Property issue and landlord is unresponsive. What to do?

Post by RifqiMFahmi » Fri, 03 Mar 2023 11:22 am

Hello everyone, I wanted to provide some context. Lately, I haven't been able to turn on the air conditioner at my place because the fuse box switch that powers it keeps tripping. I've already contacted my landlord about the issue, but unfortunately, he has not given me a definite timeline for when it will be fixed. To make matters worse, I messaged him again the next day, but he only read my message without responding (indicated by a blue tick mark on WhatsApp). This gives me the impression that he's not taking this issue seriously. It's been three days now, and the AC is still not working.

Do you have any advice on what I should do? Should I consider calling my own electrician to fix the problem and ask the landlord to reimburse me? Thanks in advance

It would be ideal for you to call your electrician to fix it then have the owner to reimburse you. Only concern is - will he/she refund you..Is there an agent in your transaction you can speak to?

Send a warning that you will have it fixed and will deduct costs from his rental.

"I understand that you are very busy and don't have time to reply to my WhatsApp message regarding the faulty air conditioning unit. To help, I plan to engage my own electrician to repair the unit and deduct the cost from my next month's rent. Please let me know by XXXX (date or time) if you have another solution in mind. Otherwise I will proceed to call in the electrician. Thanks you."
