Citizenship Approval Chances

Post by epl.revengers » Tue, 21 Feb 2023 6:20 pm

Dear community members,

I would like to know the SC chances for my profile.

Race: Indian
Applicants: Myself, Wife, Daughter (7 years old) & Son (8 months old)
Education: Local Diploma (Singapore Polytechnic) & local degree (B.Eng from NUS)
Residing in Singapore since 2003 (close to two decades)
I'm PR since 2010. I got married in 2014 and was able to get PR for my family in 2017.
Profession & compensation: IT engineer (~150K/year basic). Wife is home maker.
HDB owner and kid going to local school (not sure if this carries any weight).

Please let me know what you think of this profile.

Two thoughts. What is your age? nearing 40 I would guess.

Why have you waited 13 years to apply for SGC? Age?

I'm 37 years old. Reason I waited so long is to get the family's opinion. I'm deeply rooted to Singapore due to my tertiary education here but that's not the case for my wife. She had a spend a reasonable amount of time in Singapore before making that call.

I think you are probably OK timeline wise but see what others say. Even though you were PR from 2010, your family's status has only been since 2017 (which I rekon is about a year after your daughter was born). I.e. before 2017 or so, I'm not sure you would have had much luck applying anyways.

I'd say give it a shot; may take a couple of tries and be prepared for long waits. Good luck!

I think you are absolutely right in saying that I might not have had much luck had I applied before. My family had their PRs for less than 3 years. Thanks for wishing me luck.

Dear members, would working for a government sector play any part on the SC application? Does it really matter whether one works for a start-up or a govt sector?

Seems okay, you are not exactly on the younger and anymore, but that is mitigated by the fact that you already have a family.

Well, if you work for the government, and your application is also being evaluated by the government, I'd say you hold more value to them than somebody else working for a start up. Of course, this is not to be said about everyone, as there are so many other factors that contribute to one's value.

The length of time would be a problem had you not continued to establish your roots here during that time. You live in government housing and your kids go to school here, so I don't think it's a problem.
