I get my clothes at the usual Giordano, G2000, Marks & Spencer’s here. I only get Uniqlo shirts ‘cos their bottoms don’t suit me. Their Airism range is good at keep cool for hot weather.

M&S clothes are pretty good quality and very worth it when on sale.

I never shop in blogshops ‘cos they only cater to petite Asian ladies and they conveniently forget that not all Asian women are tiny & pint sized. I’m either M or L for Asian clothing brands but XS or S for Western brands. Shopping for clothes is a pain in the ass and I’m not even overweight, just slightly taller than the average SG lady. I can’t trust the sizing labels and have to try on the clothes before I buy ‘em.

I did check out the clothes in the US and the quality appears similar to what I’ve seen here in M&S but the price isn’t that great when converted to SGD. I saw a waterproof UV protection jacket going for USD$70 when the same material in Uniqlo is SGD$50 or less.

Agree with you on blogshops. I'm 5'10" so obviously, my measurements are larger to be proportionate to the rest of my body. I'm not overweight or fat by any measure, but I have a lot of trouble finding clothes that fit me right here.

M & S is great, I especially love their linen pants. Look very put together and perfect for singapore's weather.

As for Giordano and G2000, they've been having closing down sales for what feels like 10 years. Haven't really shops there though.

Don't really shop here, tbh. I get most of my clothes when I go back to the US, aside from name brand stores I also shop at Burlington Coat Factory, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Ross, among others. The variety is huge!
Man, Lisa… you hit all of my favorites.

BTW, I noticed the stock at these stores this year seems way better than last year. Still not quite what it used to be, but substantially improved.
Can't speak to that as I haven't been here since before Covid, but what I have noticed is that prices don't seem as good as I remember them. Do you agree?
I’d say it depends. For example, on my last trip I bought some good quality, brand name shirts for between $9.99 to $14.99, and some Reebok running shorts for $14.99… these all seem to be about the same price as before. What I liked was the fact that they carried some brands that I hadn’t seen before and weren’t bad. I also bought a really nice Tommy Bahama polo shirt for $39.99 — pricey, but retail would have been at least $99.

Nordstrom Rack is another one that I’ve found a few good deals at over the years, but I often leave empty handed, so it’s definitely hit or miss. Macy’s clearance racks can be good too, but also hit or miss - really need some luck there.

Nordstrom Rack has been pretty stocked this year, in past years I haven't been able to find anything but have made a couple good purchases this time.

Neiman Marcus also has a surprisingly nice clearance section, you probably know that most of their stuff is very expensive/over priced but the clearance is far more reasonable.

Yep, I only shop in the clearance section of the big department stores. Sometimes it’s hard to tell how much discount actually applies — it can be marked down some, but when they ring it up, another 20% off applies that was not obvious — you really have to check to be sure.

Timing matters too, depending on the season. For example, late summer can be slim pickings for shorts and tees, but a great time to find jackets and cold weather apparel.

Completely agree with you on timing, I've been trying to get my daughter some winter clothes as she hasn't needed any for years and now doesn't have any that fit/are fashionable enough for her. Unfortunately, we're getting close to winter and it's getting much colder here, so the deals aren't as good as they should be. Will have to keep sniffing.
