If something is bad enough, it might be a catalyst to quit. After all OP is looking for the cheapest cigarettes. I've gave him solutions. While I've never smoked Beedis, I've smoked my fair share of kretek cigarettes as I quite liked them. I smoked a pipe for the first 10 years of my smoking life and always inhaled so my sense of harsh is somewhat higher than the average smoker.

interesting so today I go to my neighbours shop try Next red. Cost 13 bucks , so I ask the person which one the cheapest. got one brand never heard before what ipall or whatever cost 11+

than she told me camel cost 12.80 I was ? cheaper than Next red??? I used to smoke try before Camel not bad ok surprise is cheaper a bit than Next. Partly last time when I smoke Marlboro Red, Camel price is roughly the same with Marlboro. I forget to ask her how much Lucky Strike cost.

Ahh yes. Kind of like how if you're trying to quit giving in to all your junk food cravings, just bings so much at one go that you never wanna see junk food ever again.

What do you normally smoke? Honestly, as abrupt as they may be, I don't think the hikes are high enough to make a huge difference to your habit.

I smoked quite a lot brands before , even Indo Gurang Gudam , yea got sweet taste etc .
I always stick to one brand for quite long. Even since Marlboro is expensive i switch to Viceroy , next , LD etc

Come price , Let's face it Govt also want money in the form of taxes this is why property tax increase, even COE , even ERP , literally almost every thing and our daily needs.

Well Inflation , Globally also happen currently but end of the day is How Govt make use of the money.

Side note if price keep increasing too much will create more demand for illegal cigarette even come Vape. Recently there are two cases of raid , one is vape and another is illegal cigarette by ICA, SPF . I forsee more to come..

I do tried before Vape BUT in another country as is an offence in SG before but still prefer smoking.

End of the day well just like drinking , some prefer to drink then smoke. For me I don't drink in fact.
I only drink when come wedding or happen someone offer me or happen in pub/disco. Normal days I don't go buy to drink.

I've come to find that vaping is nearly as common as smoking now, and slowly taking over.

actually come vape I do like , partly no mess , no much " stink smell " for those non smoker but actually there is " smell " but not say so much than smoking.

But nevertheless is illegal in SG . You never know wait been caught. I feel most buy just vape at home but as the Law stated, Anyone OWN it also consider illegal.

Oh, it's most definitely illegal, but that doesn't stop anyone. The one thing that I think is better is that it doesn't affect non-vapers nearly as much as smoking affects non-smokers.

In many places, the legality of vaping is a complex issue. While some jurisdictions have legalized and regulated vaping as a harm reduction tool, others have banned or heavily restricted its use due to concerns about its health effects, especially among young people. It's important to note that laws and regulations can vary significantly from one country or region to another.

You've pointed out that vaping is illegal in Singapore (SG), and the possession of vaping products is also considered illegal according to the law. It's true that despite such legal restrictions, some individuals may choose to use vaping products privately or discreetly. However, it's important to understand and respect the laws of your country.

Here is some legislation that could be interesting:

1. The legal age to buy cigarettes to be increased by 1 each year, so in 2024 it’d be 19, and 2025 it’s 20, and so on… such that anyone aged 17 this year would never be able to legally purchase them.

2. The legal quantity of nicotine to be reduced each year until the nicotine content eventually becomes zero and would be an illegal substance from that point onwards.

Sound good?

Sounds like the law they introduced in NZ a year or so ago. Anyone born on or after 1st January 2009 should be banned from buying tobacco products.

Yes, I was surprised to read about that… it’s an idea that had come to me many moons ago, but I never thought I’d see any country implement it in my lifetime. Not sure why we don’t see other countries following suit.

The idea of nicotine free cigs is an idea I came up with even before that. Unlike caffeine free drinks, I don’t believe there are nicotine free cigs… and the companies that make them know such a thing would be useless for getting people hooked - which is all they want to see. Get rid of the nicotine, get rid of the addiction… anyone can enjoy a toke, without fear (anyone that doesn’t fear the addiction, should).
