Carousell scammers

Post by abbby » Fri, 10 Feb 2023 1:45 pm

Nothing the platform can do to prevent this from happening? Seems to be happening over and over and there are getting more cases like these:

Laziness.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

The best thing to do is to be discerning when choosing to buy something online, especially something that expensive.

Maybe, but what do you expect them to do?

happened to me.

as the seller lived close to me, i drove to his condo.

the outside of this chinese android phone looked and felt as good as what it purported to be: purple iphone 14 pro max 1tb.

i was prepared to paynow and leave without checking the phone as i usually did that but i was told repeatedly to check the item first and it threw me off.

the font, etc, ui looked off. can’t log into icloud. i told him it’s not an iphone.

seller had a long tale of how he took it as repayment of a debt.

not the last time i would be scammed as i don’t like checking what i am buying before i pay for it.

At least seller advised you to check... seems like he felt guilty.
