Hi everyone,

It's been a while since my last post, and I wanted to provide an update on our situation and seek your valuable input. We applied for PR in July 2022, which Unfortunately got rejected after 7 months in February 2023. Since then, there have been some changes. Firstly, our salaries have increased, and my pass status changed to E pass. Considering the changes, we were planning to reapply in August 2023 (6 months after the rejection) but learned that we'll be blessed with a daughter, expected to arrive in Spring 2024. This has left us a bit confused about the PR application. Some friends have suggested that we don't need to wait for the baby's arrival and can apply for her later as well. While others advise waiting until after the birth and applying together. We would greatly appreciate your opinions and any experiences you can share on this matter.

Specifically, I'm interested in:

- What are the pros and cons of applying for PR before the birth versus after the birth?
- Has anyone been in a similar situation and can share their experience?

Thank you in advance for your insights and advice. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Our background info:
Me:
Age: 37M
Race: Caucasian
Highest Education: Ph.D. in EU
Job: Senior Scientist
Length of stay in SG: 4.5 years
Length of employment with my current employer: 4.5 years
Salary: Basic S$110K per annum
Pass: EP

Spouse:
Age: 34F
Race: Caucasian
Highest Education: Ph.D. in EU
Job: Scientist (Biomedicine)
Length of stay in SG: 3.5 years
Length of employment with my current employer: 3.5 years
Salary: Basic S$78K per annum
Pass: EP

Read this post by the forum mod:
Unless it is something that has happened prior to the application date, it doesn't count. So, in order to add to the application the baby would have had to be born before the application submission.
If you want your baby in the application, wait for the baby to be born and apply together as a family.

Likely, it is better to have the baby in the application. Even then, it may not be easy; unfortunately, some of the same challenges exist.

Anyways, would suggest just trying once the baby is born and see what happens. You can probably give it a couple of tries, and if unsuccessful, then you may need to think about what you want to do.

Congrats (pregnancy), good luck (birth of baby/becoming parents), and good luck (whenever the application is lobbed in).

Hi All,

I would like to seek your expert advise on below:
we applied PR in april 2023 and status is still "Pending".
Our child is currently studying in International School in K2 grade and we had applied for admission to a local school duing P1 registration exercise.
fortunately we got a confirmed place in local school for P1 January 2024 class.I would like to know if (and how) we should notify ICA about this change in particulars.I guess this would be seen as positive for PR application

Thanks in advance

Hey everyone! Been reading a lot of posts on people applying for PR, long waits, rejections, approvals etc.
My application (2nd time) was recent, submitted in August 2023 (some of you helped me with some insights in another thread I had posted, thank you again!)

While I know it’s a long wait for whatever the outcome might be, I am having anxiety about it almost every day, and seem to be logging in every morning to check the application status. While it’s not taking up all my time and/or mind space, it keeps floating in my thoughts and I’m struggling a bit sometimes.

I wanted to know if anyone else faced this and how they coped with it. Thank you 🙏🏽

If you have read the forum then you should know PR applications won’t be processed that quickly so checking daily is pointless. Just check once a month from the 4th month onwards.

Only when the upload document button disappears then you check daily/weekly. That’s all you can do.

Maybe delete the bookmark you have for ICA website which would decrease the temptation to login.

Fellow 2nd time applicant, submitted in January 2023. Been lurking here for a while.

I have been logging in almost every day for the last 2 months as well, so I feel your anxiety. For me, trying to fight it doesn't work. So I give into it for a fixed amount of time every day - I check my application, check this forum, and then realizing there isn't anything more I can do I go back to my life as usual. Hope this helps!

So you have anxiety regarding the application outcome, right? Now try to frankly answer the following question inside your mind, if you are so anxious and this pr result is making you to struggle mentally to a greater extent.

HANDLING PR CARELESSLY: Why should they give pr to your wife (since you applied as a family) when she has not monitored her REP and let the situation get worse to the level of PR getting renounced? Even if she had some issues or reasons for such a situation to arise, ICA would have definitely accepted the reason if it is valid and spared her REP. I personally believe you dont want to tell the full situation that led to her PR cancellation, but its ok if you consider it personal. Coming back to the question, why should they give pr to someone who did not know its value? I know right now one of the feasible way to get pr for indians is to do undegrad degree here and they will get pr after working for a year or two. It is due to some indians who have just wasted their pr, there are many others who are dying for it, but not getting it yet. So why should they give it to her? Also your occupation is not something that is in demand, or else you might have got it the first time, as you are here for 8 to 9 yrs based on previous posts. In addition to that, you both are nearing 40, so again, why should they give you?

This is a major concern and it can take a few more applications i.e. a few more years to be considered for pr. My best advice is to forget this 2nd application that you have submitted, as it may not be favourable for you. So why to fret and break your head and be anxious over something that is having a shady past? It is not useful. I personally know how hard it is to wait and anticipate the results as i experience it too. It not only gives anxiety but it can sometimes make one feel mentally incapacitated. However, since you have a lot of skeletons in your closet, dont hold your breath. I know this may sound rude, which i dont like to say. But i want to say so, so that you wont be hurt when the result comes. You already make some decent money, earn as much as you can and prepare to settle elsewhere, if pr eludes you.

And above all, you have submitted it just 2-3 months ago, and you start to get so anxious? Come on my friend, you are not malaysian chinese to expect the results so fast. Pull up your socks and face it like a man. There are people waiting for it for over 20months, so what have you got to say for them. Just go and concentrate on your family and career, as in my opinion that is what life is all about. There is life even without pr and if someone better than me (within indian quota) gets it instead of me, i would be happy too and not anxious.

The above are just my opinion and i apologize if anything above looks hurting or rude, but i hope you can see the facts and reality that i try to explain based on my understanding.

Hello.
I am wondering what would my approval chance if I apply for a PR. Here is my profile

Has been staying in SG since Nov 2018 (4 years, 4 months)
Annual salary: 88k + bonus
Pass: S Pass.
Education: Bachelor Degree of Computer Science from Indonesia University
Occupation: SAP Consultant (IT consultant)
Nationality: Indonesian
Race: Chinese
Marital status: Single
Age: 36 this year

I also wonder should I wait for May, because I would get a bit (a few percent, not sure yet) of salary increase and would be reflected in my April payslip..
Thank you.
Hi guys,

just want to update here, I quoted my post last year. I applied 15 Mar 2023, and got approved 1 Mar 2024.

Now, I am completing my PR formalities and I have a question, I have a softcopy of the birth certificate english translation, but not the hardcopy. ICA ask for the original and the translation, Is it ok if I just bring the PRINTED version of the translation? Anyone has similar experience?

Thanks

Congrats!, but not a surprise though. Your race has helped a lot as there is more quota.

I have already replied to you in your other post, so repeating here, it is better to bring the original document on the formalities completion day and not 'hardcopy'.

Update! We applied after the birth of my daughter at the end of May and after 5 months (November) we got a rejection notice. The first application was rejected after 7 months, I heard in June the PR application process was changed a bit, so maybe the results came faster this time, not sure.

As we have an infant, being PR is a bit more important for us for her education. We will wait a few months and apply again. I heard that you may add supporting documents in the new application process. Although it is not advised on the application webpage, I will add reference letters/cover letters as we have some awards/recognitions from governmental institutes. Possibly, the result will be the same, but the last two times I did not try to include any cover/reference letters, etc. and there is not much change in our lives. Let's try like that this time. The worst outcome would be burning another 300 SGD, it feels like playing the lottery..

Same result in = same result out.

If you have no substantial changes (big salary increase or different job position) in your profile then no point re-applying.
