Hi all,

I have been patronising this forum for over a year now and it has been helpful a lot in my PR application, what to expect and more importantly, managing my waiting anxiety.

I am not asking the usual evaluate my profile since all the infos in this form gave me an idea on that. I am just posting for the benefit of the future readers.

Profile:
Indian|33yrs|Single
Length of stay: ~8yrs
Occupation: Manager (America equipment industry) in a large MNC that has strategic partnership with EDB
Salary: 105K + ~30K bonus

PR journey:

1st application - Dec 2020 - rejected after exactly 4months

2nd application - Jan 2023 - awaiting result
Difference in profile from 1st application - pursuing MBA in local uni + 45% increase pay

I’ll keep you posted when the results are out. Not sure if it’s relevant, but based on some posts in this forum, we can expect result (approve or reject) few weeks after the “upload document button” disappeared. Mine disappeared last week. Let’s validate this claim too from my result.

And once again, a big thanks to everyone posting on this forum.
Once you complete the local MBA and work here - chances will drastically improve.

Agree @singaporeflyer. If it gets rejected this time, I plan to wait for 2 years and apply after getting the benefit of the MBA degree (more money/more impactful position :))

Hi all,
My application was rejected last week, around 15 days after the “upload doc button gone”.

I was prepared for the outcome, either positive or negative.

Gotta wait for few more yrs and try again.

At least your attitude is correct. A lot of us on here have been down that path. Some of us when there was no forums like this to help. (I'm one of them - took me from 1988 (1st appl. to 1995 before success. I came here in 1982 on a 12 month contract. The 11 of June will be my 41st anniversary of landing on these shores.

Hello everyone,

I've been a long-time lurker of this forum and would like to know my chances, and if there are any new trends you notice. I applied in 2021-Feb, and in 2021-Aug I submitted documents to prove my Chinese ethnicity when ICA asked, in 2022-Jan received a rejection. I then applied again in 2022-Sep. It's been around 6 months since I applied the second time and they haven't asked me for extra documents yet (in the first app, at 6months they asked me for further documents). If I submitted extra documents during the first application, will they ask for the same extra documents during the second application?

I see in the forum that the general recommendation is to wait 2 years after rejection unless there are changes, so is a salary increment of 2k and a promotion considered one? Also, I'm wondering whether there's a trend that it's harder for Chinese ethnicity to get PR (given the influx of Chinese, not sure whether this is true or not, I've just seen news articles about more mainlanders/ hk coming to SG) ? Contrary to some posts in the forum, I have 3 friends from the same uni program as me (grades also around the same), with Indian passports, jobs (investment banking, consulting, and tech), salaries (10k+, 7k, 5k) and they all got PR... but I know some ethnically Chinese Indonesians from my school who got rejected.

My background
- Age: 25
- Race: Chinese
- Nationality: Vietnam
- Gender: Male
- Marital Status: Single
- Education: NUS Computing/Computer Science
- Industry: Tech
- Position: ML/AI Engineer
- Job Experience: 3 years
- EP Pass holder
- Salary: 8k/month (first application, was 5.4k)
- Lived in Singapore: from 2016

My Avatar pretty much fits, don't you think? Although my beard isn't quite as long it makes a pretty good stab at it.

Thank you for your input. It can be useful if it is complete. Sadly without knowing your ethnicity/nationality in it's current state it is virtually worthless.
