Hi everyone,

Just want to get your opinion on my application.

Living in Singapore since 2010. 3rd time trying for PR.

1st application 2017, 2nd 2020 and both were rejected after 6 months on the dot.
3rd application Applied on 20/1/2022 (been waiting for 15 months). before I applied I have a promotion + increment.
On 12/12/2022, ICA emailed me to ask for supporting documents: education certifcates (even though I have submitted all beforehand)

Male
Nationally: Vietnamese
Age: 29

Education: Local O's - Local Dip in fashion - BA in International Marketing - MBA (international schools in SG)
I went to local neighborhood secondary school (sec2) and have been in SG ever since. My student pass + S pass application usually process very fast (fastest was 3 days for S Pass).

Visa: SP, working as Regional Marketing Exec
Salary: 60K+ SGD p.a
Employer: Big MNC
Total work experience: 7 years overall (all in SG)

Family members: mom on LTVP + 2 siblings (8 and 9) on student pass (all in SG). Mom have been here since 2012 on LTVP tagging on my Student pass, and siblings been living here since they turned 3 years old, both
siblings went to kindergarten + primary school in SG.

In my application, I showed some past donations + contribution to different charity organisations + my AED CPR license.

Hope to hear your input! Thanks all
Being on S Pass coupled with ethnicity won't be easy for PR. If your pass gets upgraded to EP, I would say you have a decent chance as you studied here.

Just thought I'd post a little tidbit here for those interested....

My colleague who is an Indian national, and did her degree in NUS and worked in my company right after she graduated, first job. Didn't do her schooling in SG, only tertiary.

Indian, female
24 years old
Applied PR 6 months ago, PR approved 2 weeks ago.

No recommendation, volunteer, etc etc....she just applied as is.

I thought given her passport, it was interesting. Even if she was a young female.

How did she perform in NUS? I'm thinking she did rather well and was one of the recipients of the letters that they used to send to select students either in their junior or senior year of Uni. They were usually put on a 3 year work bond and generally fast-tracked to PR and ultimately SGC if they wanted. The fact that she was a female and single and apparently rather smart, regardless of ethnicity that the gahment figured she would become an asset to the country in the future. I've known quite a few of Uni grads who came out of Uni with invitation letter to apply for PR as soon as 6 months after starting work had passed. But they had already been singled out by the gahment due to their academic prowess.

Hi SMS, as of what I heard since the last few years no PR invitation letters for local uni graduates and no MOE TG with the bond also.

Hi SF, for the MOE Tuition Grant, you are saying that they (gov't) are not issuing it (TG) to international students (and hence there is no bond for these students) in recent years at all? Or you only know of kids that were not successful receiving it? I.e. may still be issued but much harder to receive.

SMS is absolutely true and on on dot. In fact in my own case after I graduated in 2016 I waited for 6 payslips and I applied and I got in 6 months my PR from the date of appointment (submit manual appn in Mar 17). However when I applied for SC after 2 years of PR and the result came after 2 years as rejection in Jan 2022. As i have seen many seniors are advising to apply after 2 years, I have not yet made second attempt for SC. May be after 6 months I will try my luck. I studied in SG (SMU) and I am in SG for the last 11 years.

You are right. Sorry. It has been tightened more and only certain courses are eligible for it now. Still there, but not easy as before.

Circumstances change means any reasonable change in Salary or change in Job Profile/Field which may make your profile more appealing for ICA to look into. Or if the wife starts job after completing diploma.

If there are no major changes in the application, outcome will be the same.

No guarantees even if you wait and apply after 6 months or 1 year also. Because salary is not the only factor for the application, also not sure if the salary hike is significant enough for ICA to consider, etc

Also if rejected 7 times, you should have your plan B ready.
