Too high salary for PR?

Post by Web1 » Thu, 12 Jan 2023 11:40 pm

Dear all,

I am seeking an advise from the collective wisdom in this forum regarding a recently rejected PR application for the following profile below:
    Ethnicity: White Caucasian
      Age: 36 years
        Income: $500K+
          Nationality: Dual nationality (both European)
            Marital status on submission: Single
Education: Masters degree from top-100 university
                Area of work: Cyber Security
Recommendation letter: From Singapore's Ministry of Defence
Stay in Singapore on submission: 3+ years (since 2019)
Social contributions: Consistent donations to Singapore charity

I am reading that, amongst other things, my salary might be considered a flight risk, though appreciate any comments on the matter. Incidentally, since applying, I recently got married, however I doubt this would have made my application successful on its own.

Given the above mentioned profile aspects, I am grateful for your comments about my application and what could be possible improvement areas that I can make should I attempt to re-apply.

I appreciate that I am not from a high-quota ethnic group, however do you think there are chances that my application can be approved in the future, provided I continue residing in Singapore and continue boosting my social contributions and social integration?

                      Thanks.

Donations to charity means sweet bugger all.

Do you have any roots to Singapore? Partner, family, etc? Having the credentials and salary does not mean approval of PR. The ICA, from what I can gather, looks at many factors outside of employment and education alone - maybe even more so given the population's angst at subgroups of foreigners in recent years.

ICA does not give a damn about recommendation letters, MP letters, volunteer work, blood/monetary donation, investments, owning property/car/insurance. All the above is not even requested on the application form in the first place.

You said you got married recently, is it to a foreigner, PR or citizen? Depending on your answer, we will advise accordingly. You can still update ICA on your latest marital status since singles from Others race have a slim to NIL chance of getting PR.

Your issue is race. Caucasians are in pool that has 1 to 3% of the total PR intake p.a. That's ~500 max per year. Probably less.

marrying a local girl and having kids with her counts, i believe, as social integration and contributions.
