PR approval chances (applied in 2022)

Post by karinnn12 » Thu, 12 Jan 2023 2:29 pm

Dear Forum,

Would really appreciate any guidance/insights on my chances for SPR approval, thank you!

In hindsight I probably should have waited to apply as my period of stay in Singapore is very short and annual salary is also rather low compared to some of the examples I've read in this forum. But I only found out about this forum recently so just hoping I could get some tips in advance in case I get rejected.

Information at time of application (August 2022):
Age: 25
Time in SG: 7 months
Education: Bachelor's and first class Master's degree from one of the top 10 QS World Universities
Gender: Female
Race: Chinese
Nationality: Malaysian (I was also born and raised in JB, not sure if that counts for anything)
Marital status: Single
Profession: Research Assistant in neuroscience
Salary: 42K/year + variable bonus
Pass: EP
PR Application: this is my first application

If it's rejected (which I doubt) it will be because of the short time before applying. If that happens, wait until you have passed 24 months or wait until after your first EP renewal has been granted - should be a shoe-in then.

Gender: Male
Race: Chinese

Just a matter of time. Otherwise you tick all the right boxes. While the salary is a bit low, you have the benefit of being M'sian Chinese graduate.

Pretty clean profile, factors in your favor are age and race. Still, I believe there hasn't been a long enough period in SG before applying. For that reason, you may be rejected.

Very high chance of success.

Very high chance of success.
But then again, if my application for renewal of EP is rejected by the MOM, that would actually mean the end of my PR application.

You have a better chance of being struck by lightning than to have your EP renewal rejected… it’s not worth the brain cells to even think about it.

My thoughts exactly, can't imagine why these people stress themselves out thinking of all the things that could go wrong. In that respect, they're already very Singaporean :P

Hi all,

It’s me again.

Renewal of my EP has been granted IPA. Now pending medical check-up.

Since i’ll be getting a renewed EP under the same Employer, do i still need to keep ICA updated in my pending PR application? e.g. email ICA/etc

I will also be getting a very modest increment in basic salary. Do i need to keep ICA updated on this salary increment? e.g. email ICA/etc

Yes to both if you can. Medical update to ICA - not needed.

Is it still necessary for me to keep ICA updated in my pending PR application since I will be receiving a renewed EP from the same employer? e.g. email ICA/etc.) In addition, my base salary will be modestly increased. Is it necessary for me to inform ICA of this salary increase? such as email ICA/etc.

Did you read the answer just above your question?
