Rental Occupancy Limit - New Born

Post by mak412 » Tue, 27 Dec 2022 10:13 am

I am renting a place as a couple where occupancy limit is full i.e. 6 people in 3BR HDB. My wife is expecting and we will have a new family member sometime next year. Do I have to start looking a new place as the baby will not be able to get registered in the HDB?

You will have to unless everyone living in the flat are family members

Oh so from contract point of view, owner can opt not to return my deposit due to pre-mature ending of contract?

Show your landlord this link (https://www.hdb.gov.sg/cs/infoweb/resid ... -your-flat) and talk to him.
It is not that you want to move out but you legally can not stay (and your landlord would get into to trouble too).

Yes you'll need to look for a new place.

Depends, technically you would be breaching the contract but if you are on good terms with your LL it really shouldn't be a problem. A quick conversation and you should be on the same page.

your LL will want probably you out. coz they can likely get higher rent with the next tenant.

so i’d just keep it on the DL if i were you and want to stay on. the reasonable and timely return of your deposit is not guaranteed anyway.

you gotta look out for yo ur own interest first.
