Wow... I've always viewed Malaysian politics as pretty corrupt, but this guy has given me a little hope for Malaysia. Maybe he'll get a chance to implement his ideas one day.

Rule of law and meritocracy in Singapore vs corruption and nepotism.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or
http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

So much cronyism in Malaysia. Wouldn't you consider the "Lee dynasty" nepotism though?

I'm honestly surprised there isn't more of an uproar about this... really odd that everyone just seems to go along with it. Granted the government has done pretty well under him.

They use a combination of soft brainwashing (media control, education) and punishment (POFMA, defamation suits) to stop the population taking about it.. Of course there's the PM salary, senior government positions stuffed with relatives, and much more than would be an outrage in other countries.

And woe betide anyone who dares speak out against the government. Just see what happened to the blogger Roy Ngerng, one of many whose lives have been wrecked after being sued personally by the PM.

Yup. Some parts of the way things are done in SG are really not right, like all the ways they silence opponents and the small things they do (gerrymandering/right to hold elections whenever they want) to give themselves the upper hand.

Not to mention all the other bloggers and publications he's sued.

Of course no government will give the opposition the upper hand. But other governments don't or can't sue anyone who criticizes them, pay themselves massive salaries, put all their relatives in senior government posts, manipulate the electoral process to make it almost impossible for the opposition to win votes, suppress freedom of information and public expression.
But hey if people here are ok with that, carry on.
