The industry/occupation can matter too. I had a friend from the same country as me. I was never required to go for a medical checkup, but she had to do it for her EP. Her work was done in the office 95% of the time, and for the remaining 5% she had to work "in the field"sundaymorningstaple wrote: ↑Thu, 22 Dec 2022 10:01 pmIt's not what industry, but what country your are coming from. Some are only required to make a declaration of their health. Others require a medical. It is what it is. Not all countries have the same health statistics as others.
In addition, to your other posts, it is the MOM/ICA's discretion, not the employer.
A statistic of 2? As I mentioned, it is the MOM's discretion, not the employer. So has every employee like your friend (job and position and nationality) HAD to get a physical or do you only know of one instance?nelyanne wrote: ↑Mon, 26 Dec 2022 11:31 pmThe industry/occupation can matter too. I haven't spoken with other employees from her company, so I have no idea whether they had to do a checkup or not. But that friend and me are the same race and same citizenship (also same gender, same education level, almost the same age, came to Singapore around the same time) - so it's enough for me to believe that it's not ONLY about the country.sundaymorningstaple wrote: ↑Tue, 27 Dec 2022 12:28 amA statistic of 2? Not really a large enough sample size to tell anything.nelyanne wrote: ↑Mon, 26 Dec 2022 11:31 pmThe industry/occupation can matter too. I had a friend from the same country as me. Perhaps they do it like spot checks, so they pick a couple people randomly from a group.nelyanne wrote: ↑Tue, 27 Dec 2022 12:42 amI haven't spoken with other employees from her company, so I have no idea whether they had to do a checkup or not.
