Hi Fellow bros and sis of expat forum!

I have been looking around for quite some times, I've decided to get some advise from the audience or expert from here. Generally i have curious that how does it take a chance to become a part of SC. How's my background could helps.

Since i applied for my wife and my son too, so i would showing their profile as well.

TBH, this is my first application.
1. Technically, how likely can my whole family will get approval?

2. Will my father status affect my application, as the separeted parent and already have another family in SG?

3. Does doing volunteer work helps on this?

1. You & your family a shoe-in. Take maybe as fast as 6 months (maybe even a little less) but probably no more than 12 months. 2. no bearing. 3. Waste of time now, ICA already wise to that so it no longer has any bearing on the outcome. If you aren't doing volunteer work now, don't start. Will just look like another abuser.

Go for it.

I had applied on Sep 2021, is already more than 12 months. Is because more than 12 months i would worried it may have some unexpected result.
Since is applied over 12 months, and you said a shoe-in. probably due to some reason for them to drag such a long time?

Shoe-in does not mean quick too always. We have seen SC application taking even 2.5 years before.

Don't forget, we are just breaking free from a pandemic and ICA/MOM were heavily backlogged. We don't have another pandemic to go back to to compare, but we do know that there was an extreme backlog which the government acknowledged at one point. Just hang tight.

Hi, some encouragement... wait time over 1 year is quite common now from speaking with friends / friends of friends stories. Profiles similar to yours. You will find others in the same boat in this forum, except for those who are especially in demand e.g. tech or data talent. Hang in there alright, should be real soon. Good luck!

Yes, wait times were already pretty long pre-covid. Has no bearing on the outcome.

Please let me know my SC chances.

Recent PR app of my wife and children where rejected. Wife applied PR 3x as single, 1x sponsored by me, 1x with my elder son and recently with my youngest son - all were unsuccessful.

Profile:
Husband: PR for 15 yrs (yes, pr during that time was easy). I applied unsuccessfuly for SC 5yrs ago with my elder son.
Age: Late 30s
Race: Philippines (others)
Education: Degree in home country
Income: ~100k excluding bonus
Work: Senior engineer in manufacturing heavy industry

Wife: Working in SG for 14yrs
Race: Same as me
Age: Late 30s
Education: Degree in home country
Income: ~100k excluding bonus
Work: IT in local school

Eldest son was here in SG since he was 6 month old. Next yr going to be P3 in local school
Youngest son was born here. Going to N2 at sparkletots next yr.

I was hoping for their PR approval but was recently rejected. I am planning to apply for SC together with my 2 son. Or is it too early given their recent rejection? If it is, how long should i wait?

Reason for the above is for me to be able to buy a resale hdb. Current rental prices are unaffordable and condo is not within our budget. Thank you in advance for your advices!

Not going to be easy for both their PR and your SC.

Where are you originally from ?

Ethnic Quota, salary and job profile may be the issue in my view.

Thanks SF for the assessment. We are in "others" category.

More details on job scope:
Me- research and design of machineries that sg exports worldwide while my wife is a programmer. Not sure if it contributes to our case.

We were already rooted here in SG and plan B is hard to do. I guess we just stay as long as we could and hopefully the kids can get theirs when they graduate here.

Any reason why your wife doesn't want to convert (to SC) as well? Not saying this is the gating issue but it probably isn't helping either.

Your older son in the local school can apply after passing a national exam (i.e. PSLE), although hard to say what the odds are.

In addition to housing, I guess another challenge is schooling for the younger child (can get in local system) and the higher ASEAN fees vs. PR fees.

Wish you luck! Understand here is home; unfortunately some factors may not be stacked in your favour (can still happen though).

Wife needs to get PR first to then convert to SC. Only children can apply for SC directly with a PR parent.

Unless their work roles and salary improves significantly it may not be easy as ethnic Quota is also a factor.

I am also in the 'others' category. In fact, everybody who doesn't fit into the C, M, or I ethnic grouping is also in the other's category. However, we do know that the other's category is further subdivided (not officially) but it can be seen often. Is that why you don't divulge your ethnicity/nationality here? By your evasiveness, are you trying to evade bad news? To give you reasonable assessment, we need forthcoming information. I, for one, am not......{I do have the beard though..}
