PR application pending, my wife (sponsor) lost her job

Post by mredvard » Thu, 10 Nov 2022 5:09 pm

Hi, Currently I'm in Singapore under LTVP which expires in march 2023.

I've been married to her since sept 2020 and she is now 16 weeks pregnant and got laid off a few days ago, I applied for PR in April 2022 as Spouse of a SC, still pending. I am employed and have enough income to maintain us both and the baby, she also has a property in which we live so money and shelter is no problem. My fear now is that we cannot renew my LTVP unless she get a new job, I also have the option to ask my company to apply for an EP, i would prefer the second option because I don't want to put her under the stress to get a job before Jan so that she can continue to sponsor my LTVP whilst being pregnant, my priority is her health and the health of the baby. I'm tempted to send an email to ICA and explain my situation, to update that she is not employed, that she is pregnant now, and that I'm applying for EP, kinda of trying to get an advice from them.

I don't want to make things more complicated for myself, I would like to seek some advice from you on what to do, should I update them on her losing her job? Applying for EP now will it affect my PR application? Is it even possible to renew the LTVP without her having a job? (I don't think so, but, long shot)

A few facts.
I'm from Latam, being here since 2018 originally under EP later then under LTVP with my wife's sponsor, my wife is originally from china, being living here 20years+ and converted to SC in 2019.

Regards.

EP in parallel with PR while being on LTVP - No Impact.
Renewal of LTVP without her being on Job - Will be little challenging

EP would be the safest route as of now.
