First post here after being diverted from Reddit to no avail, who knew there was such a big community here and Mad Scientist's in-depth knowledge.
I would like to ask the community here and Mad Scientist since he's also based in AUS.
I am a SG female who have been based in AU for over 12 years now, and am thinking of taking up AU citizenship. However, there comes the thought and dilemma as I wish to keep my SG citizenship and passport, but do I do that considering the SG government does not allow for dual citizenship?
I understand the AU government allows dual citizenship but I am unsure how to go about this, as I return to SG on an annual basis to visit families. I have heard people mention to leave Australia with the SG passport and return back to AU with the SG passport. So basically to use SG PP whenever I am visiting SG or any other country that do not recognise dual citizenship so that the SG government/ICA is not aware that I have an Oz PP/Citizenship. However, would like to check and confirm if this is accurate?
As I intend to reside and set soil in AU in the long term with my partner, what happens when I have kids in the future? As I intend to get them both SG and Oz citizenship, how do I go about doing this (would like to find out the best choice for both a girl or a boy).
Would appreciate all the help on this subject matter, so I am trying to source all the anecdotes on maintaining SG citizenship/passport with AU citizenship to no avail.
Thanks!
