Personalised Employment Pass 12K criteria
Hi all,
I had a query regarding the eligibility for the PEP with respect to the monthly salary. Here is the scenario - I would be getting a hike in November this year and the monthly salary would cross 12K per month wherein November would be the first paycheck with more than 12K. Can I apply for PEP in December with one month of a paycheck or should I wait for 144K per year as I believe it would be too late for me as the rule will be changing in September 2023?
Can anyone recommend what would be the best month to apply for PEP considering November as the first paycheck with more than 12K Basic pay?

Hi,
I read that. But I am confused about whether I need to have 144K paid to me already or I can apply immediately once I get 12K and above salary as my pay check.

In the application eligibility does it speak about 144K for those on EP?securechamp wrote: ↑Wed, 21 Sep 2022 4:38 pmHi,

Re: Personalised Employment Pass 12K criteria
I believe you need to have at least 6 months of +12K/mo salary if on EP to apply for PEP.
Basically I said that if you get your PR say in Nov this year. The 144K/pa doesn't apply but the 12/K a month does, e.g., 24K for this year (2 months). However, if he loses that job on 1 Jan 2023 he must notify MOM that he is unemployed. and if he uses up 2 months of unemployment and doesn't start working until 1 March, then he has to earn 14.4/mo from July to end Dec 2023 as he was already a PEP holder before the year started and therefore the full 144k/pa kicks in and it can get real tough the longer you are unemployed as the minimum salary required when he returns to work will increase by 12k x total month unemployed (in this example Jan & Feb) or $24K divided by the total remaining employed months. That means 2/12 of the year's annual salary has to be made up by basic salary over the following 10 months. so if on 12K/mo the next job must have a minimum salary of $14.400/mo x 10 months. If unemployed for 6 months better be prepared to go back on EP (as it would require a salary of 24K/mo for Jul to end Dec. And it has to be reported right after the end of the year to MOM.

Hi,
Thanks for your detailed description @sundaymorningstaple.
So I should wait for 6 months before applying for PEP considering I get my first 12K+ salary on EP in Nov 2022? So should I wait till April 2023 to apply for PEP?
Thanks once again.

@SingaporeFlyer : Sorry, I am not sure how to restore it. But can you please guide me with this query -
"So I should wait for 6 months before applying for PEP considering I get my first 12K+ salary on EP in Nov 2022 (I am already on EP for 3+ years)? So should I wait till April 2023 to apply for PEP?"
I called MoM, they said I can apply right away after my first paycheck of 12K+ so kind of confused.

In my view, you can apply now. But if not urgent, apply after you have 6 months payslip of 12k+ eachsecurechamp wrote: ↑Tue, 27 Sep 2022 1:43 pm@SingaporeFlyer : Sorry, I am not sure how to restore it. But can you please guide me with this query -

SF, once deleted unless it was quoted in a following post, it's gone. Used to be Google and Bing were slow to refresh from their bot webcrawlers. Now within 2 or 3 hours it is gone from the WWW as well as the old page would be written over.
In any case, if MOM say can apply after first 12K paycheck, then it's changed and it doesn't make any sense because the rules are still in place for people overseas applying with 18K/month salaries but they have to submit 6 months pay vouchers. So I hope he got good info from MOM as we all know that public servants are not always the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.

Re: Personalised Employment Pass 12K criteria
Thanks for the detailed answers.
The only reason I am skeptical about waiting for 6 months is that the PEP salary bracket is going to change from September 2023 so I do not want to risk it by applying it too close to the deadline.

Sep 2023 is almost 1 year away and you need only 5 more months of payslip? You have to make a decision and apply. None of us can exactly say which would be right other than MOMsecurechamp wrote: ↑Wed, 28 Sep 2022 9:34 amThanks for the detailed answers.
