Seeking Ideas for Singapore Citizenship Application

Post by Iamwyz » Thu, 25 Aug 2022 2:31 am

Hi Everyone, appreciate your help to check my profile to see if I have a chance for SC? The waiting game is too long I just want to make sure I hold a right expectation on this.

Female, 28, in Singapore for 12 years, passsed O level Exam and had my diploma and degree here at a local university (government). EP for 3 years and this is my 2nd year PR, Tuition Grant Bond Released.

Salary: 3-4K full time education job and some self-employed jobs (recorded in tax filing and self topped up Medisave)

Got married this year, my husband is holding SP for 5 years, planning to apply PR (PROBlEM: he lost his PR status when he was young and he came back again after many years to work here)

Husband 30, from Taiwan, Not local degree, salary 4.5 to 5k

No kid

I don’t know if marriage will be a good or bad impact for me under this circumstance?? My husband is really a poor thing as his family forced him to go back and gave up his life here when he was very young.

Will his record has a negative impact on my own independent sc application? I didn’t know this drama before our marriage…

Thank you!!!!!

Your husband's PR application will likely not be approved.

As for your own SC application, I've seen a Malaysian Chinese case where wife's SC is approved without husband in the application. Now that being said, the husband is SPR.

The factors that weigh against your case are:
1) Husband's profile
2) Your own salary
3) Not following basic requirement - i.e minimum 2 years on SPR before applying for SC.

In your own words "My husband is really a poor thing as his family forced him to go back and gave up his life here when he was very young." The same can be said about you, as he can uproot from SG and take you with him.

Thank you for the sharing.

I agree with you, to be honest it’s a bit tricky that with my circumstance somehow the marriage became an adverse factor for the application.

I enquired some consultants, they mentioned as the my husband ex-PR profile was from a decade and more ago and def post our marriage, so my case won’t be heavily impacted by him (but the blood family members will).

I’m in Art Education industry so unlikely I can grow my salary as high as some other job scopes, but I do have proofs that I connect well the community with my social/art activities. What I can do is probably to record my income as stated and top up my CPF for self employed income as much as I can.

As for my husband I still encourage him to apply, we also think the chances are pretty low, but at least it shows that not only me but we both intended to settle down here.

In the end and to our surprise, both of us have gotten the PR&SC approval last and this month! :)

Congrats to both!

May I ask if you made your SC application before you hit the 2 year PR?
When I try to click apply through myica it just said unable to process as I have not met the minimum years.
