When to apply PR? Pregnant now

Post by Juliepeanutbutter » Mon, 08 Aug 2022 9:00 am

Hi all

Thank you in advance for your help

I am currently a singaporean 33 year old pregnant woman (first pregnancy) with a 38 year old Iranian husband

Is this a good time to apply for spousal pr? Or should I wait till the baby is born. We been married for 2 years.

He tried applying for professional route previously but failed and was disheartened

I’m a professional and my income is roughly 240k a year

Any advice is much appreciated

Short answer - wait till the baby is born. It will only be a few more months anyway.

Our personal experience

Husband: SC
Wife: Vietnamese

Jan 2020 - Married
Feb 2020 - Apply PR
1 year plus no news from ICA
Feb 2021 - Pregnant, get Gynae's letter to update ICA
ICA replied, say will consider the additional docs
Mar 2021 - received Rejection letter (we have received your additional documents and we have reviewed your application but we regret to inform you.... blah blah blah, the standard local integration, holistic review standard answer)
October 2021, my wife gave birth to our baby
December 2021, we reapllied, application still pending (as of Aug 2022)

TL,DR: ICA does not treat pregnancy confirmation as something that adds on value to your application.

When was his PR rejected? Apply 2 years after the rejection.
