How to make a switch to the IT sector

Post by Cordelia89 » Fri, 22 Jul 2022 5:47 pm

Hi all, I have a quick question. :-?

I’m an expat and have been living here for about 6 years now. I’m currently in the education sector and I hold a pretty generic degree in Economics.

I’ve recently been thinking of venturing into the IT field, preferably ux design related since I enjoy the creative side of things and like the idea of coming up with prototyping frameworks.

However, given that I do not have any relevant qualifications, what is the next step I should take? Perhaps courses with certifications?

Grateful for any recommendations, especially from those who are in the relevant field.

Hey there! I switched careers to software engineering a couple of years ago so hopefully my advice helps. O:)

Courses are definitely an option that you can consider, and there's a bunch available like GA, Coursera, etc. I personally attended the data science course at Vertical Institute, and I believe they had one for ux design as well. Their course is beginner-friendly so it'll be good for you since I assume you don't have any experience in the field. It comes with an industry-recognised certification at the end too.
