Thanks. What do you mean by flight risk here ? Isn’t illegal for anyone to skip NS once they get PR ?

Also , is age (37 years old) a downside factor ?

Flight risk refers to the fact that you make enough to be able to leave SG whenever is it's convenient for you.

Age would be more of an issue if you weren't married/had no kids.

Hello all,

Before I ask my question I request people to be a little considerate while answering.
I am in Singapore since 2013 and I finally applied for a PR along with my spouse and elder boy in December 2021. The status is still pending and it’s been 18+ months already.
Has someone faced a similar situation but the outcome came positive?
Checking because we now need to take a call on schooling for my elder one since he will start P1 next year.

Hoping to see some helpful answers.

There are more than a handful whose PR has been in the processing duration of 12-24 months.

Thank you! I was just wondering if anyone had to wait this when they applied first time.

ICA is sensitive to the number of p1 seats and how it may affect the schooling of its citizens and current PRs. My feeling is they may not want to disturb the fine balance that already exists between the seats and students. If you remember there were many school closings so this affects the number of seats too (esp into some schools). Likely they will factor this admission timing into when they hand out their result to you. I’ve also seen this to be true for child births and other major life events. Either way good luck

Under the circumstances here in Singapore, if that were true, then your policy would only apply to female children as we already know that male children is a plus and not a negative as they are future NS men. You might want to go back and review/modify your hypothesis.

Thank you, everyone. The intention here is only to figure out if anyone had to wait this long when they applied 'first time' for their PR. Also, if it is recommended to may be reach out to ICA and share the concern and seek the feedback at the same time.

I read that some users have waited about 24 months+.

Hi all,

I've been following the threads and have been compiling my application. Wish to ask your feedback on my profile:

Single Australian male EP holder of SE Asian race turning 31 this year with no dependents, 1st-time applicant.
Bachelors from Aussie uni, MBA in SG
1.5 years @ investment/management executive role, S$9K/m gross. 3.5 years FT work experience before moving
3.5 years currently in SG + 1 year in the past on exchange programme
I've also been volunteering regularly in government-affiliated bodies (e.g. MCCY) and related NGOs and social enterprises since ~2021

In addition, where in the ICA's ePR portal can we submit supporting documentation such as covering letter, testimonials/recommendation letters from SG citizens or other evidence of community work?

Thanks!

If ICA don't ask for those letter. Mean they not interested.

This kind of donation, testimony, community work letter hv been heavily abused.

^^^^^Not hearsay. FACT. If they want something they will contact you for precisely what they require. Nothing extra.

I wonder what these "testimonial" letters would even say. It's not a job application. :-k
For the record I never used any such letter for PR or SC. Just give what they asked for.

Thanks, Anyway, I trawled through more of the forum, apologies for flogging the dead horse on this.

I've just had so many agency "free consultations" so wanted to get a gist about why they're still selling this idea in 2023. They seemed to know what they're on about, but the more services they talked about, the more snake oil-ish they sounded. The idea of getting an NGO to fill out a timesheet to verify community integration seemed suspicious to say the least.

However, the general research I hear is that social integration matters. If there is no cover letter or supporting documentation, then how is this assessed?

Notwithstanding that, how do my chances look?

-- ICA will not disclose this, else everyone will start to do this to get PR.

Low chance as of what I see.
