I would guess youy also have a lower chance if you were brought here by a Chinese company (like Bytedance, TikTok, Tencent etc)
I was brought here by a US company with more than 15,000 employees globally. Hopefully that's a plus
Not really a plus, but more importantly, it would not be considered a negative as the other companies mention earlier would likely be.

When do you finish your Master's degree?

For clarity, can you list the date you arrived in Singapore, the date of each prior application and decision (3x?) plus base salary (at time of application) with each?

OK, I was under the impression that you had applied 2x in 2020/prior. Not trying to say "got you" or beat you up; it is what it is and we cannot undo what has already been done. We are just trying to get a clear picture of what's going on and answer similar questions going forward.

Also, I think the prior advice you received from more senior members here was to wait until Aug 2022 (inquiry in 2021, Aug 2022 being two years from Aug 2020 unsuccessful date) and finish your masters (2022 inquiry).

Personally, I would suggest you WAIT until you finish your Masters and apply in July 2024, or if you really cannot wait do it in Jan 2024. Realistically, if you cannot get it at this point (adding the educated in SG part), I'm not sure if the chances will ever get any better. Not to say you can't keep trying (I think there have been some people where it finally came through), but you may want to consider what else you can do if immigration status is important/a key objective. Of course, if history is any guide you may have already applied again, whatever number time it is.

I would say you have a chance in 2024 (SG Masters Degree, good industry) but get others' thoughts as well. Feel free to clear up any ambiguities here and I apologize if I have misinterpreted anything.

Best of luck and Happy New Year.

Too short stay in SG. Apply after one renewal of EP. Don’t bother wasting money on the application fee when there’s a high chance of rejection.

Hey guys, I've been a silent lurker in this forum for the past so many years. Was wondering what are my chances for PR in 2023 like? My profile and background are below -

Nationality: Sri Lankan
Age: 32
Race: Sri Lankan (Moor)
Gender: Male
Length of Stay in Singapore : 10 years and 4 months
Education: Bachelors of Electronics and Communications Engineering (Hons, UK)
Pass: EP
Occupation: Software Consultant
Salary: Basic 84K + Bonus
Work experience: 9 years and 4 months in previous job. 1 Year in new job. Both in Singapore

Marital status: Married

Children: 1 son, 2+ years old, born in SG and currently studying in N1 level, DP holder.

Spouse: Sri Lankan with Bachelor's in general psychology (USA), been married for 7 years. DP holder. Previously, worked as Special education teacher in Sg for 2 years (Jan 2018 - Feb 2020). Left due to pregnancy amidst covid19. Felt it was risky

Previous Application:
2014(single, rejected in 6 months),
2016(single, rejected in 6months),
2018(with spouse, after 20 months in Jul 2020 ICA requested for family detailed history, latest payslips and employment letter. Rejected one month later after supplying these. My wife was due, and she had left her job at this time, so it might have played a part)

I'm planning to apply as family (with spouse and son) this time.

What race is your wife and you are planning to apply together?

FWIW, I would have been less optimistic than the response you got last time (I know, hindsight is 20/20), although seems like you applied sooner than what was suggested. See what others think - I would say marginal improvement but not earth moving from the last outcome.

Do you also need a new EP come end of the year?

Best of luck and regards.

NYY1, It would appear that he would, yeah. It is only good for 3 years so the end off this year.....

Wish him luck. Frankly I think, quota not withstanding, he would have a decent chance not by any one thing but all things combined especially his Masters & his previous tenure as an Ass't Prof @ NUS. (His current industry is still reasonably strong as well). While he is tentatively a flight risk I don't see it as an issue for some reason (gut feeling). I think regardless of his wife's ethnicity (I hear you on the question and her tertiary education and nationality) If she IS ethnic Chinese more's the better, but even so, she is probably fluent in Putonghua at any rate (If of different ethnicity) which would stand her in good stead here.

Fair enough, these (I PTS) are hard to handicap (in my mind). There's some gradient of little/no chance - got some positives so give it a go (we are who we are; can only change so much) - can't really get any better but still not sure it is enough.

While local educated gets some points, I would think primary/secondary/JC/poly > university/Masters. If single, I would rather have the former. However, this isn't likely for current adults of working age with young/teenage kids, so for them coming here for uni/Masters is better than not.

My guess is that the prior position at NUS is (mostly) in the rearview mirror, and it is mostly based on industry at this point (which is not bad as you say).

Anyways, some of this is just conjecture and for discussion purposes. I doubt there's ever one golden path or lack of something means it is doomed. This came up once before and it is also a guess but I feel there is some info to be had from the processing time of prior applications. Length pending doesn't mean positive outcome and a long wait doesn't mean the next time will be favourable. Unfortunately, I would think very quick unsuccessful decisions would more often than not mean there is substantial ground that needs to be covered to get over the line the next time (marriage is a positive).

Anyways, I wish the applicant much luck if giving it another go. In the meantime, we all just try to learn as much as we can from the outside with this stuff.

Ethnic quota is small, salary could be a plus or minus depending on whether you are seen as a flight risk. Length of stay in SG is ok, good that you have a son included in the application.
