If you are moving to KL, you will become tax resident in Malaysia. You will pay taxes on all your income earned while in Malaysia. Have you received the proper residency and work permits to live and work in KL?

At least until your EP is cancelled, if you have earned income in Singapore, you will pay at the non resident rate of 15 percent or the resident rate, whichever is higher.

Thanks Myasis Dragon for the input. Can I ask a different question here?
I will move to Singapore (I am German) and want to have my wife (she in Indonesian) and kids (they hold German and Indonesian passports) stay in Malaysia (Kuala Lampur) to save housing and International School costs. I plan to commute between the two countries but will try to make sure that I stay more than half the time in Singapore to pay taxes there. The questions are:
1. Can my wife and children stay in Malaysia?
2. How can I make residence for them so that they can go to school and rent?
3. She is not working and I plan to visit but not have residence for myself, does she have to pay any taxes?
I searched a lot in the forum and online but didn't succeed in getting an answer.
Many thanks in advance for you (or anyone) help in answering this.

You might want to check into your wife and kids applying for MM2H in Malaysia. If you can’t meet the new financial requirements (which are steep) you can instead apply for the Sarawak MM2H which is similar to the previous (much lower) requirements, and I believe you only need to spend a week or two per year in Sarawak (on vacation) to qualify.

^specifically, to qualify for the MM2H in West Malaysia, your salary needs to be at least 40k MYR per month. That's the equivalent of approximately 10k usd per month.

Looks like the Sarawakian version of MM2H has changed a little, now 30 days stay in Sarawak is required, up from 15 days. But they will now allow you to work in Sarawak on MM2H. According to this article, the highest # of S-MM2H applicants were from the US, UK and SG…
