SC Approval Chances

Post by LiuPeng » Wed, 29 Jun 2022 11:23 am

Hi all,

My wife and I got married this year (no child yet). My wife has recently submitted her SC application. Please help to evaluate the approval chances.

Wife:
1) age 29, has been in Singapore for 10+ years, Chinese citizenship;
2) SM3 scholarship; NUS undergrad + NUS PhD;
3) has been PR for 3 years;
4) has worked for 2 years, now a data scientist at an IT company, annual package 80k+;
Husband:
1) age 33, has been in Singapore for 10 years, Chinese citizenship;
2) NUS PhD;
3) has been PR for 4 years;
4) has worked for 6 years, now at a local IT company, annual package 220k+;
5) has a condo, paying mortgage loans every month

Seeking insights to the following:
1) What is the success likelihood of my wife's citizenship application based on the background?
2) How long would it take to process her application based on the background?

Your input is much appreciated.

Did your wife apply for an SC only for herself, excluding you? It can be treated as a red flag and reduce her chances...

It’s difficult to give an estimate on processing times, the range is huge. Can be anywhere from a few months to a little over two years.

My colleague & her husband are ex-PRC nationals, at the time of SC application, they were married for more than 5 years, her hubby studied NUS PhD during 2003, got SPR & a baby in 2008 before applying for citizenship in 2010 which was accepted.

Do take note it was slightly easier more than 10 years ago and criteria might have changed since then.

Apply as a family unit & with kids will have better chance. Like what nelyanne said, if your wife applied alone without you, that’s suspicious.

Both of you belong to the race with the highest quota and your ages are favourable to have children.

Processing time varies, it can take up to 24 months. Just apply and wait.
