Hi guys
There's a section under the SC application form where you can provide details of achievements/innovations that you have made in your profession/occupation. I'm sure commonly known achievements like Olympic medals and Nobel Prizes would definitely count as achievements/innovations here. I work in corporate finance advisory services and I don't have those so I'm trying to see what can I fill-up here rather than leaving it blank.
Let's discuss what are some examples that can be counted as "achievements" here and how should I word them. Does common job achievements like "Completed x no. of projects that contributed SGDxxxk in revenue to the firm over x no. of years" count as achievement here? If yes, do I have to provide documents to support this (because company don't usually gives out some kind of certificates/awards to such common job achievements)?

I left mine blank. Like you said - nobel prize, olympics/asian games medal - those would make sense. Anything else sounds......uh...for lack of a better word, desperate.

Achievements would refer to awards that you’ve received in your career or in your personal life, but don’t use it as a dumping ground for every little participation ribbon you’ve ever gotten. They are not interested in that. Only write something down if it is truly worth mentioning.

Exactly. Writing down some mediocre “accomplishments” may end up working against you.

Thanks for sharing. Just sharing, I actually list down those common job achievements in my PR application but wasn't asked for supporting documents. Also, i've youtube vids of immigration agency recommend to fill-up something instead of leaving it blank.

The only thing useful here would be technical and professional certifications and similar not otherwise listed in the application. Project management certifications, architectural certifications, CPA's, etc would be the most useful in demonstrating accomplishment. Or, if I founded a school for deaf and blind children, I'd include that. Everybody's resume talks about increasing revenues or cutting costs so it's not really any kind of differentiator.

Right, and it looks bad if those are the biggest accomplishments you have to talk about yet they still pale in comparison to others.

Well at the end of the day it is up to you, just list down your very very best achievements and hope for the best if you really want to write something down.

I agree with Myasis dragon on this..

Would leaving it blank sound corny or boasting ? Have there been any cases where PRs are given for blank acheivements and no retries ?

Sure. Lot's of times. I'm one of them. I have enough anecdotes to write a book over the 74 years I've been around. My biggest achievement was not getting myself killed in the process of living those 74 years with what I did during that time. But it would not fly on a PR application.

Don’t think leaving it blank ever come across as being boastful. If anything, it would show that you are either modest or unaccomplished.

Yup, experience will always trump formal qualifications - yet only the latter can ever be considered formally.

Yeah, many people leave them blank and get PR. My husband is one of them. I sponsored him and just put in our bachelor degrees. That is all. No recommendation letters, no unnecessary nonsense that some people “recommend” and ICA never requested any documents from us. We waited patiently and did not pester ICA, hubby got the PR.
Sometimes over-embellishing and fluffing up your application can make it look suspicious or desperate.

Frankly I think that if you are relatively educated or at least enough to blend in with the general applicant pool, you should be fine and not need to supplement your application here.
