Indian EP Kids -> close to Nil chance to get a local university
-- I don't agree with the above. The quota is less, I agree. But not NIL
is anyone ever gonna teach our kids to compete and accept that its global not local competition. we are here for a reason. and similarly, they have to compete with locals as well as future immigrants.

everyone has a chance at university but they have to beat the competition. if not here, then somewhere else. if your parents are rich, even better.

I've been on this board for over 17 years. If there is one thing I have learned is that Indian Nationals, regardless of their caste or education or marital status or gender, a large number of them will invariably burn their bridges when coming to Singapore and make it difficult to impossible in most cases for others from their homeland to come here. So, given this known fact there should be a pamphlet given to all Indians coming here that their chances of any kind of success about getting permanency here, aside from the small demographic controlled quota system, is that anything you do that you think or hear might improve your chances, other that those we generally advise here, will, quite honestly do nothing but eat up your time and money. You only have your own countrymen who came before you to thank for the difficulties you will experience and the frustration/disappointments you will meet. So remember, what we tell you (the long time members here) you can pretty much bank on.
Agree, only if I could turn back time and go back to 10 years ago when I arrived here and someone told me that getting a PR and making Singapore home will be next to impossible.
The dilemma for many Indian people like us is that many of us have been expats for 20+ years and going back to India is not an option anymore, at least for me.
Aren't you the guy who is considering marrying his Malaysian Chinese SG PR girlfriend? It is not impossible for people like you - just that the government probably wants to see more concrete proof that you intend to settle here. Dating someone "without committing" (in their eyes) is not enough to show your commitment (via integration) to Singapore.

Thanks bro yes.. getting married soon..!!

True! So it may be as mentioned below?

Indian EP Kids -> close to Nil chance to get a local university
Indian PR Kids -> Have a fair chance to get local universities.
So prefer local university if not too bright/rich to get top universities
If does not get a local university then depending on money may go to overseas or Indian Universities!
From what I understand, most Indian PR kids are good enough to get admission in decent universities in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, but not good enough to get into NUS/NTU, so they move to these countries. Getting into NUS/NTU for undergrad is extremely difficult. Only the cream of the cream get in.

I understand in Singapore Polytechnic is considered as good path and opens up lots of doors for good careers. But in India, we dont value polytechnic, it has to be a degree and although the standard of degree in India or even overseas is quite subpar(other then top tier universities), Indians would rather send their kids for a degree.

This is why I see most Indian parents, even PR parents sending their kids overseas for under grad.

Dear All,

Just wanted to get your view. Myself 37 years old from India staying and working in Singapore 10+ years and working for Global Bank with 170k+ Annual salary with Bonus and my wife is 30 Years old, staying in Singapore for 10+ years and she is not working. We were married for 10 years.

We have 2.5 years baby boy who born in India and currently going playschool in SG.

Applied for PR 5 times so far. 5th Attemp status is pending. Applied on May 2021 and updated ICA about my promotion in Dec 2021. In Feb 2022, ICA sent an email for my wife education details and i responded and in May 2022 ICA sent an email for Family Vitae and i responded.

Background of my family details are, My wife does not have siblings and her father in retired teacher now he is 72 years old and mother is 65 years old. They have pension and rental income. So no dependent on us. From my side, father is pass away and mother is in her 60's looking after agriculture farms and i have one younger brother and he is into Business.

After 17th May 2022 , no update from ICA. I know ICA will take time to come back and writing here will not change my outcome also 😊

Here just wanted see any similar cases and their outcome.

Wow, do Indian kids really not get into local universities? Not trying to stereotype, but I tend to think that most Indian kids are pretty intelligent.
