Dance classes?

Postby dolby » Mon, 04 Apr 2005 5:07 pm

Any recommendations on where to go for dance classes (any styles really...jazz, contemporary, ballet, etc). I'm a beginner in most of those, but will have a load of time on my hands when I come to Singapore, so would like to make the most of it. Anyone else interested?

Any idea of what sort of prices I would be paying?

Thanks ~dolby~

have a look at

http://www.swingapore.com/
http://www.dancearts.com.sg/dancearts.html
http://www.asiasalsa.com/Home.html

in case the links are deleted, googling for dance singapore, or looking for each of these words + singapore in particular: Jitterbugs, Dancearts, Asiasalsa.

Thanks! :-) Any other people interested in dancing on this board? (I'm a guy, but that shouldn't matter)

I'm coming out at the beginning of May, and have done a small amount of ballet and contemporary before. I would like to do something like jazz or hip hop, for fun, fitness, improving flexibility, as well as making friends for the few months I'm out here. Hopefully I'll have enough time to do some. What about you?

I like tango, I find it quite a movement art! If you are interested, let me know when you are here-will check out if there's new class starting at that time.

But if you are interested in hip hop or Lindy, check out this website, http://www.swingapore.com/
They have quite a assortment of dance classes. My friend took hip hop lesson there. Meant to join her but never get round to it! :)

barelypoetic.

For hip hop, funk and jazz, there's no better instructor than Lionel Araya from Los Angeles, USA.

Thanks funky for that - it's good to have recommendations of good dance teachers.

Guest: I've never tried tango - although I wonder if my wife would have something to say if I called her up and told her I've been doing the tango  It's always looked good, although I've done very little ballroom dancing style.

Forgive me for my ignorance, what's lindy hop - I've not come across that? Does it require a partner?

Young Chinese female working and living in Singapore. Want to learn social dance on Wed or Fri or Sat night. Please contact me at cheryl_an_0727@yahoo.com.sg for details such as your schedule and teaching rate. Would like to enroll class too with whoever interested as I am not familiar with dance class in Singapore. BTW, I am a beginner only.
Thank you
Cheryl
