What happened to the Star Awards?

Post by Lisafuller » Tue, 26 Apr 2022 11:50 pm

Never been super into it but I feel like it used to be a much grander event, with way more tuning in. This time, it seemed to blow over so quickly, read about it briefly in the paper but that was all. Really pales in comparison to American awards shows like the Oscars etc. The arts scene here is really dead.

It's been on life support for the 49 years I've been here. Occasionally they would have something of note, but it was few and far between.

They should have pulled a Will Smith type of stunt!

Neither do I, point was that there is normally more coverage/buzz but this year there was nothing, even though it’s the first year in a bit that the show was an actual event (due to covid).

Hahaha, that’s one way to put it. This year it just seems to have flatlined, in the last couple of years there would at least be some buzz, there were a few times when viewership was high enough for them to do charity fundraisers during the show.

That’s one way to breathe some life into the show, would’ve gotten views for sure!
