Hi Everyone, I am working in SG since past 5+ years just after finishing my postgrad, switched a job in between. decent pay in last job, got an offer with a smaller firm for a more responsible role and made a switch, but new employer pulled back the offer just after joining and prior to issuing EP. I am applying for other jobs and going through few processes right now. Will it impact EP application from another firm in any way? Will appreciate your guidance. Thank you!

Every EP should be considered on its own merits, provided the company has a good track record and there aren’t any extenuating circumstances.

Thanks Malcontent for taking time to respond. That is a relief and thankful to this forum as well.

Sure Lisafuller. Last week left. Fingers crossed. Processes are dead slow due to long weekend, and looking back I am just regretting all the weekends I sacrificed till now due to work and family commitments. Seems like I am not getting any till foreseeable future. Few largest companies are interested in interviewing me so hoping for the best. General population doesn't appreciate people smarter or who learns faster than them let it be any place in world. Just had bit high hopes because I got right person to guide me on my probable PhD journey, but upcoming week with just 3 working days is too short to save my ongoing application and will need to wait out 6-8 more months for reapplying in worst case scenario. Crossing 30 in 2 months time is another factor that is bit scary. Or maybe It is just me overthinking again. And here we go again - me vs people vs time...

"General population doesn't appreciate people smarter or who learns faster than them let it be any place in world."
Seems like smarter people or faster learners also have bad grammar.
I am cynical sometimes, like now, so let me burst your bubble.
Singapore does need smart people and/or fast learners. Singapore does not need people who think they are smarter and faster learners than the general population.

Thanks for pointing out grammatical mistake. Seems like you were privileged enough to reach up-to this level of fluency for English. By general population, my reference is not to Singapore but
in general as I mentioned, so no need to take it to heart or just comment to increase post count. Venting out usual frustration need not be a target for sarcastic comments I would rather say without understanding other person's context or situation. Practically speaking, everyone is an outsider on this island country sparing handful of people and I respect everyone's opinion including yours. Just my two cents.

Oh I wasn't being sarcastic at all. Did it read like sarcasm? Sarcasm implies I meant something other than what I said. Like if I were to say, oh absolutely, you are smarter and a faster learner than the general population. So with this maybe there's a better understanding of cynicism and sarcasm - not even 2 cents, this is for free.
In any case, the point I was trying to make with my cynical post, was that perhaps if some of that egotism was toned down, your interviews may have worked out better.
And now for something that I hope is taken the right way. It is hard. Job searches are not going to be easy, but you could offset that with a small trimming of your expectations, and a bit of the attitude. The climate is rough right now, and will be for the next few years at least. Work out a plan B, and all the best with your search.

Thanks for your advice. Probably, I made a mistake while phrasing. Two separate points I was trying to make here - the comment regarding learning capability wasn't related to job search, I very well understand the difference between being egoistic and being confident - In fact I got tremendous support from locals and foreigners alike (Number of interviews within 10 working days ~30) given I have just started interviewing in third week of April it has been hardly 10 days with one week of long PH in between.
Also for one job that I got prior to this whose offer they rescinded the day before, company faced an issue. My indication was more about the biases involved. It is bit hard to communicate, if the other party involved is not willing to understand your point of view. Just an example, for some small incidents - folks working in people operations maybe don't understand mindset of technical folks and vice versa - same goes for gender, race and what not which social media debates on regularly. Coming from a place where at a point in time you have been in minority, you should be the first person to get what I am talking about. If I was behaving egoistic in any way, even you can understand I wouldn't have gotten so many interviews or even the support I got and truly grateful for that. Maybe some good deeds of past. I was just concerned about the time constraint part.

Well, a normal person won't be able to get this, because one needs to have both brain and stamina to survive what I have gone through. Resting my case here.
PS: Oh, and on top of this, add a scatterbrained landlord who tells you to find a place within 2 months of moving in. will create a separate post on housing troubles.
You aren’t coming across very well lol

Yup, rephrased. Thanks. Realized I didn't practice what I was preaching.

Thanks for good wishes Lisafuller. It worked out somehow. Got offer from another firm with 1+ level role and salary increase even without me negotiating, because they didn't want to lose me to another firm. They applied for EP recently and got few more calls at some of biggest firms, will continue interviewing given current market situation. Fingers crossed.
