PMLA: Under Consideration

Post by GTR1307 » Fri, 15 Apr 2022 12:55 am

Hi all,

I am a (SC) in my early 30's and I have knew my GF/Fiancé(Chinese) for a little over 3 years now.

We plan to get married soon while I have applied PMLA on behalf of both of us and I just received notification from ICA today, 15 Apr 2022. (Currently the status on MyICA page is "Under Consideration"

ICA stated that they are pleased to consider my application subject to the submission of the original documents listed below. Kindly report in person at Visitor Services Centre, 4th Storey ICA Building with the required documents by 21 Apr 2022 or your application will be treated as withdrawn.
- A copy of this notice
- Applicant's valid travel document

My main concern is:
1)My gf is the "Applicant" (Please correct me if I am wrong)
2)She is currently not in Singapore.
3)ICA only gave us a 7 days notice to report to ICA Building in person ( Thus, I am wondering if they overlooked some details)
4)We are currently in the midst of a pandemic & Chinese citizens requires a travel visa which will definitely take more than the given 7 days notice period.
5)Maybe ICA just wants myself to be present alone with my travel document? (Weird and unlikely?)

I would like to know if my case is common and did it occur to anyone here?

Nevertheless I will probably give ICA a call or drop by myself to enquire more next week.

Anyone who experienced the same situation as me. I would be eternally grateful for some advise while I overthink over the long weekend. :o

You are overthinking it, they never ask you and the applicant to report to ICA, they said you are required to report(singular). Even tho she is the applicant but you are still the person that applied on her behalf and want u to show up with an original of her travel document. From
Experience they probably want to ask you a few questions like.
1. Where did you meet?
2. How did you meet?
3. How long have u known the applicant.
4. When are u planning to get married etc.

So in this case, they are asking u to show up to ICA and not the applicant, they are not stupid, they know the applicant is not in SG since it is just a PMLA and not necessarily that the applicant will have any valid immigration pass in Singapore.

Actually happened to us before, we were both in Malaysia at the time and ICA asked my spouse to show up with all bunch of documents including a letter of employment from me. And since they gave few days, we had to book a flight for her to come back to sg asap and attend appointment. You can always write to ICA at [email protected] or call them, I personally wouldn’t suggest this coz u will be signalling that u didn’t understand a simple statement I.e. “Kindly report in person at Visitor Services Centre“
If I were u, i I’ll just show up to the appointment with the documents requested( I.e. ur gf’s travel
document which should be the international passport data page showing all her details.) without asking silly questions to ICA. Good luck.

Thanks for the advise mate.

Just an update:
I went down to ICA this morning and they asked if my fiancé is present in person, and I replied she is not in Singapore. Not exactly sure did they overlooked any info as I did indicate in my PMLA application that she is not in Singapore.

Nevertheless they asked for a scanned copy of my fiancé's passport which I provided. Told me to go back and wait for results.

Did not ask any questions about us etc. Currently status of my application is : Pending

*Update: PMLA is successful on the night of the day I went ICA :D
