I've only ever visited a casino once - in Sydney. I have no idea how to play any kind of card game (Snap is about my limit) nor am I particularly attracted to dice games. That left me with the slot machines and my wife and I certainly had some fun with them - eventually losing the small amount we had 'invested'. But, when I looked around at the other people playing, it was clear they taking no pleasure at all. It was pretty grim and sad to be honest.

Have you ever tried playing local card games? Like Tai Ti (Tee?) etc. those can be pretty fun, we play them when we celebrate Chinese New Year. I’ve always done pretty well, probably gambler’s luck because I never gamble any other time.Myasis Dragon wrote: ↑Thu, 21 Apr 2022 2:40 amI find casino games of chance to be boring. Haha, I think i’m in between you both. I live for the high, but I’m a little more restrained and only take calculated risks, so I minimize any losses.malcontent wrote: ↑Thu, 21 Apr 2022 8:41 amMy brother is just the opposite, easily prone to emotion, both highs & lows… which drives his impulsivity. I’ve only been a couple times, and even then I’ve only gone for the novelty, never with a serious goal of winning money. I think thats the trick - go in for the experience and you’ll only spend a little, if you win, great, if you lose, it’s not that bad.Addadude wrote: ↑Thu, 21 Apr 2022 9:08 amI've only ever visited a casino once - in Sydney. Re: Sentosa- Brani Master plan
I am only little interested in jackpot machines and not the card games, never learnt how they played it so no addiction of any sort. I've known too many people gambled and lost all their money, house and some even divorced. Too sad to see how they end up..

I've not gambled since the early 1970's (before my bankruptcy-but it wasn't the cause). Lost a fair bit of money on the sulky races at Pimlico Raceway. After my bankruptcy I shied away from any sort of gambling until I came to Singapore in 82. Still didn't do anything until about 1989 when I started buying 4D (but only a token $2 bet 2x a week playing on a single number which never changed - a number that had never won a top three position since the start of Sg Pools). I played that number every Sat & Sun for ~ 2.5 years. Ironically, I increased the sized of my bet in December 1991 to $5 but still only playing the same number 2x a week. As dumb luck would have it, I was hosting my neice's birthday party at my house (on the 50th's anniversary of the Bombing of Singapore in WWII the day after Pearl Harbour Day) when a Taxi Driver friend came bursting into the house asking me if I'd played my normal number. He's picked up a copy of the Chinese Paper (which comes out in the evening) and showed me the front page and sure enough, I'd won 1st Prize with a $5 bet on the Sunday draw. I figured that I'd spent about $2500 over the period I bought that number and I won 10K. Was time to quit. Haven't bought one since. I walked away a winner that time. Decided not to test it.
While I've been to casino's both here and in Darwin and Las Vegas, it's always been for the sites and entertainment but never for the gambling. In fact I've never ever played on a one-armed bandit, let alone all the other forms of games there.
Oh, and that number has never come out 1st again.

Re: Sentosa- Brani Master plan
Good move SMS to have won the 10k and walked away. Cos I think it you were to continue the money would have been lost anyway. 4D and TOTO money is just so immensely impossible to win. The worst part if when you drop it, it comes out. And you'll never know when the number is coming. Can be frustrating!
On the topic of TOTO, correct to say you'll have better chance to win if you buy the System 7 and above..? Have seen people strike it with those system numbers..but again, also seen people who have won just buying ordinary $1.

Re: Sentosa- Brani Master plan
Toto is tempting. But not here. If I were going to do it, I'd have to own a car and I just buy scratch-off with change from the fill up. Or throw a couple of bucks out at the counter. I've read a couple of articles who espouse how to better your odds of winning e.g., basically along the lines of being a card counter with a baccarat shoe. How good it is I don't know but the TOTO/LOTTO payouts in the US are really getting wild. Like the last one of over a "BILLION" dollars. won by two people (a single ticket - not related but close friends who made a pact).
Can you imagine how many relatives you would have that you never knew about! LOL

My 4D win wasn't a quick pick. It was a single unique number that identified me - It was my year of birth and also my date of birth (Sg style date - dd/mm/yy). Pure luck.

Congrats, you seem to have a strong mindset and can stop after you win big. I wish I was like you. I also won some 4 digit amounts but could never stop. It feels like I can hit the big jackpots again. But over a long period of time I lost everything again. Nevertheless it's entertaining .. but at what costs?sundaymorningstaple wrote: ↑Wed, 05 Oct 2022 2:10 pmI've not gambled since the early 1970's (before my bankruptcy-but it wasn't the cause). I was in Las Vegas just briefly last month. Had not been there in almost 20 years. It seems like the strip has nearly doubled since we were there last. It has become a very popular spot in the country for homeless to hang out. You can’t walk 30 seconds without running into one, but they are mostly harmless. No gambling or any other vices were partaken of, the only indulgence was a stop a Ramsay Burger (which was really good).Blobfish wrote: ↑Thu, 12 Jan 2023 12:35 amCongrats, you seem to have a strong mindset and can stop after you win big. Re: Sentosa- Brani Master plan
I can recommend Las Vegas but rather for the entertainment than for winning a lot of money. Actually I made the experience that I win more money in online casinos because they have a higher RTP (return to player) than landbased casinos. And I can also stop more easy there if I lose too much money. But anyways if you visit Las Vegas one day you have to try the Stratosphere Tower too. It's very excitingBlobfish wrote: ↑Thu, 12 Jan 2023 12:35 amCongrats, you seem to have a strong mindset and can stop after you win big. I wish I was like you.
