I am the one who gave up Singapore after multiple PR rejections.

Our last Singapore PR rejection was in February 2021, the application progressed for 13 months.
Both I and my wife got a uni degree from a top university in Singapore. We had a decent income. We lived in Singapore for more than a decade. We had a lovely kid who was born and grew up in Singapore and always thought to be a local here.

It was a hard decision to move on at that time as we were used to Singapore as our second hometown. We moved to Australia as I got a job offer there and then got Australia PR after 6 months of living here. I still missed Singapore a lot and sometimes I ask myself why Singapore reject my family as I want to stay and sink root there.

Hi,

I would like to ask for your advice on my PR chance. Thank you so much!

Nationality: Indian
Age: 29
Race: Indian
Gender: Female
Marital status: Single
Applied for: Myself
Education: Bachelors of Technology, Masters of Technology (Both Computer Science degrees) Top Institute in India, Attending Accelarated Management Program at NUS starting in september
Length of stay in SG: 5 years
Pass type: EP
Occupation: Research Scientist
Salary: ~ S$160k (last assessment)
Work experience: 5 years, all in SG, progression in Job role and scope with one switch
SG Tax Assesment: 4 years, coming to 5

switching job to a slightly higher pay, more responsible role just after starting application - will this impact process?
Appreciate any guidance. Thank you!
After much of the fight, outcome is reject. Some people try multiple times, even though I managed to get into managerial role in Data Science with almost double my previous raise, I am not inclined to try any more due to personal reasons. Probably will sign off from forum and SG as well. Will go to another destination as I planned to explore earlier.

It was great learning experience from everyone on this forum and keep up the good work, Folks! Hope our paths cross again in future :) :)

80% chance you will still get it. Your friend and yourself are not the same.

Your friend also spouse and kid in Malaysia? Same age, education, salary as you ? If not, how do you compare your application with her's ?

I feel you coz I am in the same boat.. here for almost 10 years, EP renewal with the same company 4 times, 9 IRAS filings and rejected 3 times for PR.
But I am 43, single, make a little more than 180K a year.

How many times did you apply and how long were you in SG?
I am planning to get married to my PR gf but I know that there is still a very Low chance to get the PR, we are looking at other countries to settle or have a more stable life..

I have no idea why you worried.

Marry and apply.

this is classic case of anchoring bias . You have been rejected as a single Indian race guy doesn’t mean you will be rejected as married Indian guy who has married a Pr ( I.e sunk roots ) .

Infact this is what ICA wants to see.

spouse in SG, kid in Malaysia, elder than me, education level, salary is similar, what i heard from others who alr get approved, her approval rate should be "slightly lower" than mine as i am "younger and in a "more favorable" industry", yet she get approved within 3mths, i am also worried about this application as if it doesn't get approved, i may not be able to get EP on my next renewal due to the latest tightening measures for the workpass application.

I don't agree with this. This has to be said by ICA and not by us.

Okay. I've tried not to enter the fray this time but a couple of questions need to be answered regarding some elephants in the room... May or may not have a bearing but I'm guessing it does.

1. Are you M'sian Chinese or Malay/Indian/other?
2. You went to private college (twinned with another University/College in Australia or somesuch? Outfit like Kaplan for instance?
3. I guessing you indicated you went part time to college? ("study pt in sg") so were probably working the rest of the time? Were you on a student visa or on a work pass? I know if going to a Sg University you are allow to work a given number of hours only/month. But after 9 years here you are only drawing 3K/mo. How long have you been working full time?

Answer these niggling questions and maybe we can give you a better "guess" as that is all we can do here.

Hi guys, I submitted my PR application 5 months ago under the PTS scheme (my own Singpass login). I did not know about the different schemes then and was wondering if there's a way to change the application for the Family Ties scheme (I've been married to a Singapore Citizen for 2 yrs+). And if it's even worth trying to switch it in the first place?

Other details for reference:
- Malaysian Chinese, 31
- Wife is Singaporean Chinese
- Lived in Singapore since 2015, EP holder in Finance
- Ivy league grad
- 340k / yr

In your case you will get it on your own. If rejected reapply after 6 months under family scheme
