I went 15 straight months with an unrenewed REP a number of years ago as I was between jobs when it ran out. So I didn't go to JB or Batam or anywhere else outside of Singapore as by doing so it would be telling ICA that I am giving up my PR. When I finally found a suitable position, I waltzed into ICA and was out in 20 minutes, no issue.
There wasn't a Grab when that happened, but I did work as a Marshall at the Seletar Base Golf Course before it was closed to make way for the Airtropolis in the Camp. Used to sit out there in the bloody hot sun in the golf cart with my Dell and job hunt between shooing local golfers off the no-go zone between the Sixth hole & the Airport Runway. Didn't stop the financial bleeding but it did put food on the table.PK12345 wrote: ↑Sat, 09 Apr 2022 11:47 pmAre you driving grab while you were between jobs.

What were the questions that were asked?malcontent wrote: ↑Sun, 10 Apr 2022 12:34 amRecently someone close to me had a longer than usual wait time for their REP renewal, and it just so happens that others in their family who were in identical circumstances were renewing theirs around the same time and got theirs renewed without delay.
Eventually it took a visit to the ICA to find out what was going on. During this visit, it was really strange, the officer tried and come up with some odd questions to make it seem like there were reasons for the delay, but this really made no sense because the other family members were in the exact same boat and got theirs without delay or questions. In fact, one of them submitted several days later but got it renewed weeks earlier.
Given that, we suspect it was just bad luck on the day the REP renewal was submitted… maybe some system glitch? Anyway, they did agree to renew it on the spot after informing them about impending travel plans.
