Hi all,
I haven't been able to get a concrete answer to my situation. It's been really frustrating trying to figure this out, any advice will really help calm my nerves. Thanks in advance!
I work for a SG headquartered company but on paper, I've been employed by a third party payroll provider (HK legal entity) in Hong Kong, earning in HKD on HK Dependent Visa. Since my company doesn't have a registered entity in HK, this is the model they follow.
My husband and I are now moving to SG, with both our companies ready to apply for our EPs.I will be moving to Singapore on DP with my husband, so that we can enter the country together. My SG company, will apply for my EP with their SG registered company once DP is approved. I have a couple of questions here -
1. EP can be applied only once DP is issued, i.e., when I enter SG? OR can this be applied when I receive the IPA?
2. While waiting for EP to get processed, can I continue working remotely for HK legal entity (on my HK dependent visa which is valid till 2024) while in Singapore on DP? I'll be working only for the time that it takes for EP to get approved, assuming 1 month. And before leaving HK, I'll inform the revenue dept of my last date accordingly, hence, paying these taxes in HK before leaving. If EP takes >1month, then I will stop working as I have paid out taxes in HK only until this last date.
The objective is to enter the SG at the same time as my husband (Hence, moving on DP first since my EP might take longer) and to not have a non-working gap while waiting for the EP. If you guys have any other ideas on how to navigate this, please help!
