3 Weeks Pregnant, Should I inform my employer?

Post by korosensei » Wed, 02 Mar 2022 4:37 am

I just found out that Im 3 weeks pregnant and my work includes a lot of night work (shift from 11pm to 2am usually 1 to 2 times a month). Should I inform my employer right away or is it too early to say? Im worried that my night works might affect the developing baby inside me. Thanks for the advise.

I would think it's good to inform them early so they can make arrangements for alternative shifts for you. Night shifts can be very tiring for expectant mothers.

I would say to wait until your pregnancy stabilizes before informing. Although this is great news for you, your employer may not see it that way, so only let them know once you are settled.

My thought also is that 11-2 once or twice a month doesn’t seem very strenuous, most times people aren’t even in bed by those hours.

i think i can still attend my night work since its not that much given no problem arises. i will take your advise and update my employer after my first trimester. i just hope it will not affect the baby. but hopefully not. my work involves tunnel inspection so basically we can just do that after train hours.
