A large number of the Ukrainians are probably conscripts. But the comments had some good viewpoints. That wars are not one sided. They are ugly and give sick people on all sides opportunities to commit crimes that some of us can't even imagine. Add to that, a feeling of vengeance that some of these Ukrainians might have felt after watching their country, their families and friends getting torn apart. That's what will happen eventually.
The trick is that people shouldn't go around being assholes in the first place by invading other people's territory.
To add to this there is plenty of video evidence of dead Russian s being left to be eaten by dogs or ground up under tank tracks to hide their bodies (by their own side I may add).

Well I not sure, just feel Xi " might " partly perhaps he wanna make himself to be remember just like Chairman Mao.
That’s the problem with having a country run by an egoistic leader. Never ends well.

I was reading that Russia is not taking their dead soldiers. It would ruin their propaganda back home because that way, Putins lies about winning the war would be exposed. So Russian families are being deprived of knowing what happened to their loved ones and are not getting a chance to bury them with dignity.
I'm actually surprised at how badly prepared the Russians appear to be and how well prepared the Ukrainians have been.
That’s horrible… imagine being left in the dark about where your family members are or whether their even alive.
And yes, I’m pleasantly surprised by how good of a fight Ukraine has put up. Think Russia will definitely think twice before pulling a stunt like this in the future.

There was a pretty interesting 1998 movie, The Siege starring Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis, in which a series of terrorist atrocities in Brooklyn leads to a declaration of martial law. Throughout the lead up to the declaration, the army general played by Willis is warning against doing so. When martial law is declared he goes to task and the resulting consequences are pretty dark and unpleasant. I think it's fair to say that hen it comes to wat and violence, there are no true victors. The 'winners' are the ones who lose last.
Exactly. Yes, you can win a war, but at what cost?

I'm afraid of Putin being such a megalomaniac, that he commits even worse atrocities by bombing the shit out of Ukraine out of sheer vindictiveness. Just because they dared to foil his plans.
He doesn't see to give a damn about the sanctions and what they are doing to ordinary Russians.

Western world democracies must do everything possible to support an internal coup in Russia. There is no way that Putin can stay in power when this debacle ends. He has proven that he is a brutal killer, without remorse, and with a vision of a new "imperial Russia" that is at least 100 years out of date.

He’s a horrifying character, doesn’t seem to care about anything except “winning” this war, no matter the cost.

I’d be happy to see it. He needs to be removed from power ASAP.
