Pets are costing more

Post by abbby » Wed, 19 Jan 2022 10:34 am

Surprised that many have been telling me dogs now cost an average of $7000-$8000. Seems like everything has gone up (except salary   ) cars, houses, watches, pets, bicycles, etc..nothing is coming down.

7000-8000 is extortionate. We got our apricot mini poodle in 2019, paid just around 4000 all in, thought that was crazy expensive already. Guess you can’t put a price tag on a new addition to the family.

Some cats are also trading around $4k.

Your typical mixed breed rescue dogs and moggies are better value, will give you the same love and will probably be far healthier.

Cats can be even more expensive than dogs, I’ve seen some going for close to 10K. And thats not even considering the exotic breeds, like Savannah cats (up to 35-40K).

Not just that, adopting also helps with the current overcrowding crisis in shelters. The only reason we didn’t is because we live in an apartment, and the dogs we saw at the SPCA and SOSD were far too big.
