Guys update from my side with OCBC
Options:
Joint account
- NRIC of Singaporean / FIN of spouse
- Marriage certificate (original to be sighted)
- Passport of spouse (original to be sighted)
Individual
- FIN of spouse
- proof of address (one way I find around this is either applying an insurance policy or credit card supplementary card)
Haven’t decided which route I would go
If you are a US person and your spouse is not, individual account might be preferable (joint accounts with a foreign spouse can be a tax trap, due to gift tax limitations).

Hey MOCHS,
It’s modern now! PLOCs are emailed to you without residential address on letter
My husband’s PLOCs for the past three years have been emailed to us too. When my husband renewed last year, his PLOC still has the resident address.
There are two pages, first page is “You are allowed to work” which is meant for you to keep and it has the residential address.
The second page is “Approval to work” which is for the prospective employer and second page does not have the address. Maybe check it again? I’ll be very surprised if they removed the address altogether.

Wait, what? This is my first time hearing of this. I was planning to set up a joint account with my American spouse. Dang it.
I believe JWNYag is a SC and his spouse is Thai.

It depends what transactions are going through the account. If your US spouse is crediting their salary or other significant amounts to the account, that could become a problem. The 2022 gift tax exclusion is $164k to a foreign spouse. If it’s an account that is mostly unused, it might be fine — just be sure you don’t forget and accidentally deposit any lump sum proceeds in there, like a home sale.
In our case, we only have one joint account and that account is in the US. It almost never has a balance higher than a few thousand. It’s only used in very rare cases. I make sure any major transfers between my account to my spouse are intentional. A nonresident alien spouse is one of the largest opportunities to legally shelter investments from taxes, and with $164k exclusion annually (adjusted for inflation each year), it’s pretty hard to max that out.

My PLOC was emailed and it still has the residential address on it. (It was only a few months ago).

^ That’s why I recommended JWNYsg to re-check the PLOC again. There are two pages and the address is only on the first page. But since his wife got the SingPass activation letter, I guess he won’t need to check the PLOC. *shrug*

^ If you checked the past few pages, you’ll see that JWNYsg applied LTVP for his spouse since Dec 2021 and was only finally approved this month. It is within the timeframe of 6 weeks to 6 months. Just have to keep waiting…
Wah, if take up to 6 months, LTVP expired how ar? My wife's LTVP left 1 month to expire.. I have submitted the term and condition form liao and got the "document received, receiving attention" for 12 days liao.

^ Up to 6 months is for first time application of LTVP.
You can always extend short term visit pass (STVP) for her.
Your wife’s renewal would most likely be approved close to the expiry date…

I think new vs renewal procedure and timeline is different

Do you know or are you just guessing. I've spend 25 years in HR here. Sometimes the renewals take longer than the original applications, especially if there has been a change of criteria during the two or three year period between renewals.

I am making an assumption. Haven’t done a renewal yet

^ Look up Sbk’s posts. His wife renewed his LTVP last Dec, still processing and his LTVP expires this month.
