Wanted to open a bank account with her FIN number but MAS requirements need a proof of address?
I can’t remember what proof of address my husband used but it could have been his PLOC that he requested for when he applied for LTVP. The PLOC has his name and address on it.

You can request a PLOC from MOM even if your wife has no plans to work. The document is free anyway.

This was how I opened a bank account after first getting my LTVP, I couldn’t open an account with any of the banks because I didn’t secure a job, and also couldn’t provide any document showing my residential address. I tried DBS, uob even Maybank and cimb rejected me.

DBS then offered an alternative to open a joint account with my wife, once I was inside the system I was able to open a second personal account with the online banking app which u can practically used the same atm to withdraw and do not even need to go to the bank lol.

After doing the above, I pumped about 10,000 into my personal account, waited one month and got statement of account online which showed my residential address. I was now able to open with UOB and Maybank by providing my DBS statement of account which is really hard to reject you now😂

Hope you find a way to open easily.

Thank you for suggestion. That sounds doable. Was wondering on my end maybe an insurance cover
Hey JWNYsg thanks for your insights.😊

Hi JWNYsg

Congrats on the success of your wife’s LTVP. Since ICA requested you and your wife to submit extra docs and to sign the Terms & Conditions of Issue, how long did you get the official approval and move on to the appointment making stage?

My husband and I have got the In-principle Approval 2 weeks ago and were asked to submit the T&Cs of Issue, but no responses until now. Though understanding from MOCHS that it takes weeks to pass this “documents received- receiving attention” stage.
After the medical check up and signed documents. About couple of weeks.

First time applying and got 3 years LTVP+

We have been married about 5 years. Overseas certificate

Good luck to you

@salma.filahi.
Can u share your profile,
Country,
Sponsors salary
Currently in SG or how long in SG?
How long you have been married?
Any children? If no, any plans?

When they reject the application, do they often say you can apply again when your circumstances changes?

Hello , I'm foreign spouse of Singaporean
My husband has been applying for my LTVP for one year and 3 months and the ICA keep rejecting my application , we went there several time to ask why and there was no clear reason for the rejection
Any advice please or suggestions to get the LTVP I will be thankful
Or should I apply for the PR instead ?
Are you a work permit holder? Did your husband ask MOM for permission before marrying you? If never ask for permission, that would be the reason.

You should also share the profile of you and your husband like age, nationality, race, salary, occupation, how long you two knew each other.

I’ve been married for over 5 years and my LTVP was issued with 1 year validity.

I enquired as to why it wasn’t a LTVP+ and they said,
“ We noted on the content of your email and noted that you have been married for more than 3 years and has 1 Singaporean child.

We wish to reiterate that all LTVP applications that are eligible for LTVP+ will be considered on its own merits. Other factors that we consider include the ability of the sponsor to financially support the family, and good conduct of both the sponsor and the applicant.”

Which I took to mean as, “Your wife isn’t working.”

Anyway - as for opening a bank account. I had absolute nightmares trying to open one.

OSBC gave me the run around on about 4 different occasions, asking for different documentation each time I visited.

In the end, I walked into UOB with my LTVP + PLOC email and they set me up straight away.

My thoughts are that I suspect that ICA is viewing it as a marriage of convenience, at least until they have been married for a while. What race is your husband?

@salma.filahi.
It now makes perfect sense. To be honest, they only want 1 thing from you now. Which is a bouncing baby boy or girl. Let me explain with a story below and hopefully it can be of help to yourself and others.

I will refer to myself as He sometimes.

He is from an African country.
He stayed in Malaysia for about 10 years and working for an MNC (Dell).
He got married to a Singaporean citizen in May 2019.
In the meantime he was still working in Malaysia and every weekend he would come down to SG on visitors pass and the wife would also go over there for a month and so fort.
They didn’t bother to apply LTVP coz the wife was unemployed at the moment due to taking a break.

-Pendamic hit in 2020.
-Malaysia announced border closure on 16 March 2020 effective 17 March.
-He made a narrow escape and entered Singapore via land on 18th March 2020 midnight.
-in the meantime, wifey already got a job in Feb 2020
-18th March 2020 applied LTVP directly as didn’t do the PLTVP
-31st March 2020 rejected(apply again if there are any changes in circumstances)
-meantime he always renew his short term visit pass every month with the reason border closure unable to return to Malaysia and it kept been approved each time.
-note: he continued working with his company in Malaysia remotely.
-June 2020, found out wifey got pregnant, thanks to lockdown, nothing better to do at home 😂
-12 July 2020, applied LTVP and ticked the box spouse is pregnant and expected due is March 2021
-16 July 2020, rejection later 2 days letter, I know right, same thing(apply again if circumstances changes)
-26 Jan 2021, applied LTVP thinking oh since baby is almost due, might make a difference
-29 Jan 2021, ICA requested for more documents, can’t remember sorry. Most likely employment details.
-2nd March 2021, rejection letter, same thing,(apply again if circumstances change)
-16 March 2021, blessed with baby girl, registered her Singapore birth cert the next day at the hospital itself.
-19 March 2021, Apllied LTVP.
-30 March 2021, ICA requested for more document
-8 April 2021, In principal approval pending documents(medical checkup & probably daughters birth cert, can’t remember)
-12 April 2021 submitted docs.
-14 April 2021 In principal approval, can make appointment to collect card
-16 April 2021, I collected my LTVP valid for 1 year.
-got a job with MNC started August 2021 till date

Remember I have been on short term visit pass from March 2020 till that April 2021, at one point I think in February 2021, my short term visit pass extension was rejected. My wife and I had to go to ICA even tho she was already 8 months pregnant to renew the short term visit pass. I think after 1 year on short term visit pass, the system auto rejects it or something. I had to be issued with a new DE number to apply for the LTVP.

I really hope this gives you an insight of what to expect since you are from Africa as well.

We are currently expecting another baby, and have ticked all the boxes to apply for PR, will be married for 3 years in May 2022, baby girl already 1 year old, wifey pregnant already. Been in SG for 2 years plus but still don’t have the nerve to apply for PR yet.

Guys update from my side with OCBC

Options:

Joint account

- NRIC of Singaporean / FIN of spouse
- Marriage certificate (original to be sighted)
- Passport of spouse (original to be sighted)

Individual

- FIN of spouse
- proof of address (one way I find around this is either applying an insurance policy or credit card supplementary card)

Haven’t decided which route I would go

^ My husband opened an individual account with DBS. He used his PLOC as proof of address.

Like I mentioned, just request a PLOC from MOM, the document is free and takes about 2-3 working days to be sent, if I’m not wrong.

I know your wife won’t be working but it does not hurt to have the document on hand. The validity lasts as long as the LTVP card.

Hey MOCHS,

It’s modern now! PLOCs are emailed to you without residential address on letter
