The article seems to suggest that even if it’s not entirely illegal, it’s very difficult to rent out your house legally in most situations. At the very least, my
condo prohibits it. Can see why, nobody would want their neighbors to be constantly changing, takes away from the feeling of safety and community.

Interesting article. Last time I was in Singapore, I rented from an AirBnB host. It was a shop house. All the bottom units were businesses. All the top floors were rental units for our host. Nobody lived there permanently.
It would seem to me that this doesn't qualify as a residence... then again, it didn't fall under hotel regulations, either.

Guess not. Technically shophouses are a real grey area, not necessarily residences and not necessarily business space either, hope you at least had a good experience though.
