Dear Friends,
I have gone through the forum about PMLA. I have mixed feelings right now. My fiancee is SG citizen. She is 2 yrs older than me and her income is between 4-5K monthly. I am from Nepal and my current salary is 1500-2000 monthly according to current currency rate.
We are planning to get married on coming July 2022 and did PMLA assessment twice and got rejected both time.
I am a little bit worried now about getting LTVP after marriage. First and foremost we prefer to get the PMLA approval before getting married. We are planning to get dates for the weeding based on the Hindu Culture on this December and plan for ROM accordingly.
I would be very happy to get suggestions on the present context from the community.
Thank you for your feedback.

Not enough information:
- Are you working in SG already or have entered SG before?
- How long have you two known each other?
- Any criminal records for both parties?
- Age range? 20s? 30s? 40s?
- Race of fiancée?
The thing with PMLA is that it shortens the time taken to process LTVP from 6 months (without PMLA) to 6 weeks (with PMLA). That is all.
While having PMLA might give you a peace of mind, it does not guarantee that you will get LTVP. There is still a chance that LTVP could be rejected. Keep that in mind.
I do know of a Singaporean female friend whose fiancé had PMLA rejected but LTVP approved. It does happen. You buy your ticket and take your chances.
I suspect their PMLA was rejected as they met via matchmaking so the amount of time they knew each other was relatively short.

Just curious, is your fiancée born a Singaporean or she converted to Singapore’s citizenship?
To my knowledge, I know we have Gurkha soldiers here that come with their families and they are only here for a few years before the entire family has to go back home to Nepal at the end when the soldier retires.
It is a known fact that the children of these soldiers can’t stay here long term even if they wanted to and they can’t even take up jobs here as they are mostly on dependent passes. So I am puzzled how your fiancée is a Singaporean of Gurkha descent?

MOCHS, there are a fair number (or were before covid) of Nepalese in the F&B industry that are of the ethnic Gurkha group of Nepal. The Military contingent here, are also of the same ethnic grouping, hence taking the name as the Gurkha Regiment which gained world acclaim which the British Forces. So, a Nepalese Gurkha is like a Tamil Indian as opposed to a Hindu Indian or a Han verses a Hakka Chinese. But you are correct on the situation with those family members of the Gurkha Regiment.

Thanks for the clarification, sms! I always thought Gurkha was tied to only the soldiers. Wasn’t aware it was an ethnic classification.
Maybe the PMLA was rejected as the couple knew each other for too short a period of time? I don’t know if two years is considered long or short in ICA’s POV.

Also just to add on here. Gurkha is an ethnicity who's nationality, while normally is Nepali, there are quite a number of them who are Indian citizens - I knew one such gentleman who was in a fairly senior position in a bank in Singapore. I believe he was a SPR.

In reality our's is kind of arrange marriage. In case of race Gurkha in general indicates people whose birth root is in Nepal and to be precise those from ethnic group of Nepal people from those ethnic groups formed the Gurkha regiment in army for foreign country during world war and so on.
I am very please to have the feedback from the community. thank you a lot and I'll keep updating my update regarding this issue.

That’s probably the reason why PMLA is rejected. ICA might see it as a marriage of convenience even though the relationship is genuine.
The same friend I mentioned earlier had a matchmaker arrange the marriage. PMLA rejected, LTVP approved. Take note this was about 4 years ago, so the criteria might have changed. Now they are happily married with two boys, have a HDB, and last I heard from her, her husband got a job with an EP.
