Comic Shops in Singapore?

Post by trainspotter » Tue, 29 Mar 2005 5:19 pm

Me and my family are moving basically everything we own to Singapore in April / May. I have amassed (since I was a kid) a huge (and I mean tens of thousands) collection of US Marvel comics which are worth a fortune (silver to modern age) and which I now see as a very good investment for retirement age.
I don't want to sell them, nor do I trust anybody enough to look after them if i was to leave them in the UK.
I just need to know if anybody else has shipped any collections of pulp magazines to Singapore, and if so, how do they hold up in the climate?
All my items are backed with strong acid free boards and sealed in mylar plastic sleeves. So there will be no worries about pest infiltration, its just the climate that worries me a little.

Apart from that question. Are there any shops or fleamarkets in Singapore specialising in the sales of Marvel comics from the 60's thru the 90's?
Yes, I still add to the collection from time to time.
Theres no holding back a closet trainspotter :)

Thanks

Thanks Bafana, Will check this out when I get there. :D
Iron Man - have almost a full run Vol 1. Looking forward to Tom Cruise playing Tony Stark in the forthcoming (2006) Iron Man movie.

Thor - (own title - post Journey into Mystery) 125 - 402 have about 7 issues missing from the full original vol 1.
J I M missing quite a few, including the first Thor issue. But one day......

More of a DD man myself, again, just need about a dozen issues to complete the full first volume, 2nd volume is pretty complete too. Loved the film.

Thanks a lot, may catch you at Bras Basah someday.
Any days better than others to catch dealers?

Just rock up when you get a chance - The dealers own the shops.

I am looking forward to the Iron Man movie too.

One of the things I hate about these comics to movie movies is that the first one is boring in terms of full on action and the likes becuase they build a story up about how the characters got like that. This is boring for us guys who grew up with them because we alreayd know this anyway.

For instance Spiderman I was OK but Spiderman II rocked and the Hulk needed more Hulk.

The DD and the Xmen movies were good translations becuase thye cut out all the boring build-up stories....

What was Elektra like???

BTW if you got into any Popular (Singapore Chain Book Store) you can get original series Marvels comics (1st Ten Issues) on CD for Iron Man, Fantastic Thor (That would be a good movie) and the likes.
