Hi
Currently I am on EP with employer A for past 4.5 years. Planned to change jobs, got an offer for a dream job, there is also 30% salary increase. But in the same time I got to knoe that I am pregnant.(1 month).
Before the new EP gets approved and before 1 month of notice period, I may be 3/4 month pregnant. Now I am bit hesitatant, but on the other side its really a dream job with good salary increase.
How does it look in Singapore when the new hire foreigner get job and turns out is pregnant? Is it badly look upon? I think I am going to say to new employer first to be upfront and say what it's the situation though before proceeding with EP.

What’s wrong with being pregnant? No one here will look down on you, don’t worry about that. Congratulations!

No but a lot of local employers get ticked off if not informed before starting work or signing contract to the length of maternity leave they will get stuck for without any investment by the new employee. Sorry Lisa, but having been in HR for 25 years, local employers DO get antsy and feel done by. Sohapopysg is doing the right thing, but I hope she has an employer who will value what she can potentially contribute.

People often wonder why we sometimes get agro with newbie posters who do not bother to utilize the aids we have on this board. We have a excellent search engine and in addition to that if one but clicks the post count under the posters name, all their posts will be listed. After that it's pretty easy to see the posts you are reading and look at the later posts to see if the original poster has already answered, e.g., is still an active member of the forum. In her case this is exactly what should have been done. The only difference is I took my valuable time to do the work for you.

Once I said about the situation, I was told 2 days later they will go with local candidate. So not too sure if that was influenced by what I told or they really prefer this local candidate

Congratulations on being pregnant! I would say it depends on the Employer. Some employers are okay with it. Some employers are not okay, especially with the 12/16 weeks of maternity leave when you are a new hire.

B has not given you an offer? Take up A. If for some reason B comes through then resign.
