SINGAPORE EMPLOYMENT LAW

Post by JJGG » Thu, 19 Aug 2021 9:52 pm

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows that is the non-renewal of an employment contract consider as resignation? As apparently i do not wish to renew my contract after my contract end, but in my contract stated that in the event of The Employee resigns before the end of the Contracted Term, he/she is not eligible for the bonus. Could anyone helps me with this question? Would be good if someone has knowledge about the MOM/Singapore law with regard to this. Thanks in advance! :)

If that's what your contract says, that is what will happen. Unless you're essentially a laborer, under certain salary maximums, Singapore employment law basically says, "it is your employment contract that governs your relationship with your employer."

I don't think a non-renewal is a resignation. Renewal concerns your future contract and resignation concerns current and your deliberate action to terminate the current contract, so IMHO as long as you do not resign and your current contract ends you should get the bonus.
