Hello and thanks for any advice on this one
I recently arrived in Singapore to study for one year at NUS. My wife has come with me and we finished our Stay at Home Notice quarantine and have moved into an apartment on campus.
I am completing some formalities for my Student Pass visa, but I cannot identify a pathway for my wife to stay.
I have sought advice from the school, but was hoping to hear from anyone on the forum on any options for my wife to stay with me while I finish my studies.
Singapore's a great place but we aren't seeking PR or any employment rights. Just so that we can stay here together for the academic year.
Thanks for any advice you can provide.
Ralph

Unfortunately NUS only sponsors LTVP for research not coursework students.
So we have applied to ICA for an extension of her social visit pass (SVP). Will post updates.

My wife's application for an extension of her SVP was approved this morning, less than 24 hours after applying. Thank you ICA.
Visa extended for a further month.
I'll post further updates later.

I was granted my student pass on 2 September and asked about LTVP pass for my wife at the same time. The desk officer who helped us advised that a visa might be granted at the discretion of an ICA official. I took this as good news - there may be some flexibility in granting LTVPs.
My wife applied for a further extension to her SVP on 6 September.
However, with no automatic pathway for a LTVP apparent from the ICA website, the only way forward seems to be taking a filled out form 14 and all relevant documentation to Kallang to try and lodge in person there.
Will update later.

To finalise this thread, we tried to apply directly to ICA at Kallang but were told without sponsorship from my school, my wife could not apply for a long term visa.
We applied for one further extension from ICA which was granted. She left Singapore before this deadline. She is now outside of Singapore visiting her family, but hopefully can come back if they re-establish VTL travel.
In summary: in 2021, it was impossible to get a LTVP for a spouse while you are studying at NUS (possibly unless you are a PhD student).
