Can DP holder earn income from abroad in SG account?

Post by vibhash.joshi » Sun, 01 Aug 2021 12:41 pm

Hi guys,

I am working on an employment pass in Singapore for a while now and recently got married.
My wife has landed a remote role in Digital Marketing which pays her in USD (any country).

Since it's a remote role, the company doesn't offer an employment pass - just the salary and few benefits.
My Q is - Without an EP, is my wife legally allowed to get a salary from outside into her SG bank account in SGD? Her employer is not based out of SG so obviously it will be a foreign exchange movement into her SGD bank account.
And if not, can she obtain some kind of license to make this happen? Note that she will be earning the money while staying in SG and she obviously will pay the tax for it.

Thanks

This was discussed several times on this forum; some even contacted the MOM to be sure.

The answer is, yes, she is legal to do so. DP holders only need permission to take a local job, for obvious reasons.

Thank you. That's a relief.
