I think some condos are beginning to ban smoking on balconies.

In my condo, you may only smoke indoors, or put by the dustbins around the guard house.

Check the condo bylaws before you rent…

If you have cats, then you cannot rent an HDB, except in one area, I recall.

Oh we are completely happy to smoke indoors, it's just out of consideration for any housemates who don't smoke/don't smoke indoors etc haha. But yes I heard about these new rules, quite sad! Thankfully it doesn't apply to my current condo

I also know about the cats issue, but honestly I know so many people in HDBs with cats... Even people who are renting, lol. I think it's one of those laws that no one actually cares about haha

The irony with such Bylaws is that condo management may ban smoking in balcony but your owner would prohibit you from smoking indoors. If your room mate is a chain smoker who runs gasoline trains on it, then you'll be floating in smoke.
