Tony Nash used to write for the Economist. He is one of the smartest people I know.

Interesting conversation (not article), although it's suggested that Western economies will be fine since everyone will work into their 70s. F*** that!

I used to think the same way, but the older I get, the more I think twice about early retirement. I would need some seriously compelling hobbies and a thoroughly enjoyable side gig of some kind.
People always focus on the financial hurdle of retirement, but many fail to notice the large hole just beyond that hurdle. The idea of filling the void managing investments, as much as it appeals to me, is just not enough.
It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters ~ Epictetus

I think I've found that for awhile Mal. Consulting and the occasional trip offshore are keeping me happy in my pre-retirement.

A funny story about Tony.... My wife and I were in the car driving somewhere on Sat listening to BBC. The guy (outlook?) says "we have Tony Nash from Houston to give us an analysis on the open source of the Covid Vaccine" .... My wife says "Is that OUR Tony?" - and it was. We don't own him but it's nice to hear someone you know on the BBC.
