Good luck to everyone registering this year.

The last time a non-Singaporean student had any chance of getting into a popular school here was for 2011. From 2012 onwards, Singaporean students were given absolute priority during balloting (lucky draw, when demand exceeds supply).

It was around this time when we started to see the number of foreign students applying to local schools exceeding the number of seats available after the citizens and PRs got their seats, causing many to be turned away.

It was also around this time that the school fees charged to foreign students and PRs was ratcheted up and is now close to half the cost of International School fees.

How the times have changed.
