Singapore non-landed property price index rose from 167 five years ago to 204 today. That is around 4% p.a. but that excludes stamp duty, ABSD, commissions, maintenance costs, management fees and property taxes.

By comparison, the S&P500 index rose from 2,100 five years ago to 4,300 today. That is 15% p.a. and excludes dividends which would add at least add another percent, even after considering commissions, fees & withholding taxes.

I'd have quit my miserable corporate job and switched to freelance which I enjoy so much more.

I'd buy into Saxo MOAT funds much earlier as well.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.

Ignoring financial gain opportunities stuff(bitcoin anyone?) for me 5 years is too short and I think I would do the same thing again, as I havent discovered anything new that I could have done, even 10 years for that matter.

But if you wind back the clock long enough may be 15 years ago, I would have done things differently, especially careerwise.

Exactly. We actually bght tech stocks instead of a house and while we would have done better, it was a wiser decision .

However , I would change two more things. One is good and Health. I would stop eating most of Indian food which is carb rich.

I would also focus on mental health and develop more optimism and positive thinking.

Cuz for me money/career , health n sound mind r the three pillars of good life.

I will not change anything...

It's like what Steve Job said in the Standford University speech, you should look at the mirror and ask yourself everyday if this is what you want to do, if its not, you should make a change.

I think the key is to reflect yourself on a regular basis

Can’t afford that myself. But I would buy a couple of watches. The luxury watch segment has also exploded for some specific models

Would have invested more into Tesla. Although to be honest, I hold the belief that regretting ones past is pointless.

Bitcoin, crypto, and NFTs. Come to think of it, 5 years really isn’t a long enough time, especially considering much of the last 5 have been spent weathering COVID.

Any specific model in mind? Not sure the value of any watches would have appreciated enough in the 5 years to have made it worth the investment.

Completely agree with the last line. On second thought, other than missed financial opportunities, I would spend more time exercising so I could be fitter and in better health.

Most of the sporty models of Rolex, Audemars and Patek.

But only if we knew…

AP and PP watches are so classy, I’m finding more and more that the people who wear Rolexes are the NR younger folk.
